Like I said I got mine on the lift, waited for Fedex. It was like 10 minutes, removing the old one and once I got the new one threaded I added some some locktight. It was a piece of cake. I'm about to order the rears but I dont want the ride to firm up any.

AHAAAA ! See ? so your not counting your prep time, collecting tools, getting on the lift, cleanup and putting stuff away.
AND it sounds like it was 10 minutes per side just for R&R..... just saying.:smack:

Pretty ballzy move on your part counting on Fedex :playball:

Am I reading correctly that you added the lock-tite after you threaded in the stop ?

    re: Sumo's rear::
Just riding around on nice roads you shouldn't feel like the ride is degraded.
They help immensely when you start to used your truck as a truck instead of a grocery getter.

I just took a new truck for a ride while I was waiting to have my oil changed at the dealership and was quite surprised how different the ride is on a stock truck.... I had forgotten.

I'm thinking for those that it doesn't touch right away could probably add those 1/4 inch or 3/8 inch spacers that wheelers sells for their super bumps.

Edit: Assuming you're lifted a good amount.

I mentioned spacers/pucks on the last page that I have gotten from super springs themselves (1/2” for the rears). So im sure they have this or can make it for the front. You won’t find it on site but you email and ask. Again that is saying the intended application is for contact.

there is plenty of threads for adding a 1/2” puck. Sumos 1 1/4” thread length; stock 1” (then theres 1/4” non threaded tip extends past the welded nut so you technically only need 3/4” for full thread engagement without spacers).

Nice. 1/2 inch seems great for those that need more. How much are those half inch spacers?

So got mine installed and with the longer threads, stock height it was a tight fit to squeeze it in and thread it without cross threading. I didn’t want to take the chances and I also didn’t really feel like removing the lower shock and end link but that would probably be best.

I cut the stud down to an inch and it was still tight but once I got the angle correct was able to slowly thread it on holding it in that position (thread the stock bump back on to visualize angle, it’s not exactly perpendicular to the frame but slightly angled back). I still have 1/4” threads past the nut after cutting them down. Drivers side has slightly more contact (firmer) while the passenger side does touch but more sweeping. I did paint the tips of the studs after cutting.

Have not taken it for a ride yet being it’s late.

They didn’t charge me anything, ymmv

edit: possible mention, if you don’t have full contact due to a lift, that you feel you aren’t getting the full potential of these sumos. See what happens

Mine barley make contact when back on the ground, but I could almost put my hand between the space with the old stops. The front end is now more stable but I never had a problem to begin with.

I wonder if they are supposed to constantly touch or be slightly compressed, since the inner corner will also be more compressed. If they are, I wonder if there is a point where they limit up travel. Maybe I need to try and get my videos side by side. I drove the same route so that part would not be too tough. Not sure I have the editing skills or software for it.

I'm ordering the rears now. Hope they don't tuffing up the ride any.

As long as the rears have a gap unloaded then you’ll be good. And then when you load up or tow the rear will sag, make contact and then limit the sag. Think similar concept to air bags

Possibly but after the first attempt, I didn’t want to chance it. After figuring out measurements of the stud I knew I’d have plenty thread left (it was only a 1/4” off).

I really don't need them but my OCD kicks in as I have them up front now I need the rears to match. Might as well get the full effect!!!!

man, I wish I had seen this thread earlier. I leave for a two week road trip on Monday. I have the Base model, no lift, and these would be a great help I'm betting.

Same here! It makes driving it more pleasurable if that makes sense. The girlfriend likes the way it rides too.

Same here, mine touch. I drove to work yesterday for the first time since installing these, which is mainly 30 miles of freeway driving and some side streets, and these really do absorb a lot of the bumps and rough lanes that get left behind from road work out here. It definitely feels better.

At the end of the day I know we're driving trucks and not luxury cars haha, and I'm cool with that, but this is my daily driver and these really do help the front end feel better during my day to day driving.

Ok. I'm a big fan of these front springs! It's one of those simple mods that leaves me scratching my head wondering why they don't just come from the factory TBH. This last weekend I was loaded down with camping gear, kayaks, mountain bike, and even had a couple of heavy tool boxes, power tools, etc., in the bed. Weekend included 400 miles of highway driving followed by a good bit of fire roads and a bit of a "jeep" trail. Night/day difference loaded down. Prior to the trip I was considering putting some small spacers on the bumps up front, but now that I feel how they perform loaded down I'll leave them alone. TBH I think the analogy of it driving more like an SUV is accurate. Makes small imperfections more supple if that makes sense and rides very similar to a 4Runner IMO which I didn't really think would be possible.

I'm eyeing the rears now - decisions decisions. I can't imagine anyone NOT being happy with this purchase unless you're just one of those who thinks you're driving a minivan unless you're getting beat to hell on the trail. My back's happy with the upgrade.

I can only imagine how much benefit you could reap from being weighed down with gear and having the rears too! These were a big game changer for me.
