    TW,

I’m looking for some advice on front suspension. I have read a ton of forum posts on suspension but can’t find exactly what I am looking for.

Current setup: 17 DCLB OR, front is stock. Rear has fox from a TRD PRO. Tires and rims are stock.

Goal: level truck, and increase performance to match the rear suspension. Ie a new coilover setup not a spacer kit.
Future tires: 255/85 r16s (Cooper st max). On stock OR rims.

I may run Dakar or something similar in the rear someday due to a camper shell. No plans for a new front bumper or extra weight up front.

    Thanks!

I accomplished what you are asking by just using 5100 shocks and a single Dakar AAL, but definitely call Marie at Headstrong off-road for your answer.

You are on the right track, go with a set of extended travel coil overs and aftermarket upper control arms. Fox is my brand of choice; King, Sway-Away and several others all make good products.

Unless you frequently reach the limitations of your front end droop and it is a problem (not maintaining contact with the ground / traction) I would highly consider one of the aftermarket UCAs that utilizes a ball joint instead of a heim. Heims, although stronger and having more articulation, wear out much faster than ball joints. The purpose of the UCA is to change the geometry to adapt to the increased ride height - such that you can still get appropriate camber and caster for alignment.

In reality your front end is already out performing your rear end. Those Fox shocks back there can only do so much when still in the stock geometry (limited bump travel). Dakars might give you a little more bump travel, but not much. What they will do is keep you from sagging when you load the bed down, which does eat up bump travel.

I am looking at the 2.5 without resi vs 2.5 with. I just want to make sure I can get level with either.

2.5 inches? Yeah, you will need a coil over and a whole leaf pack, I just went with 1.5” and a single leaf with which the 5100’s work well, but not for 2.5”. Marie can suggest a few shock options for the extra height and price range you want.

    list is growing fast
resi or non-resi, they're both the same as far as height adjustability goes.

Sorry I mean fox 2.5 coilovers, not necessarily 2.5 lift
