I get this sound when I am say getting ready to back in to a spot. Pulling forward wheels to left, stop, put in reverse, and start turning the wheels to right then I hear it clunk. I can also feel a small clunk after a hard stop, right when I let off the brake to give it gas. Not sure what is going on. I went through my suspension (Icon) everything is tight. My drivers side tie rod end is leaking some grease but I can't imagine it being the cause of the sound. I try not to worry about it. Have you found anything else out?

I have no vibration or weird problems. When I did the lift I had the ecgs bearing put in as well.

I'm getting some noise. It sounds like mine is coming from both sides up front but I haven't found the source either. It even pops when I start it sometimes.

OP already found the source of the noise...LCA bushings which is exactly what it sounded like.

Coming to a hard stop binds your driveshafts slip joint. The grease in there gets pushed out or dries up. Needs new grease and the clunk will go away when you stop and start the truck. There's a YouTube video that shows you how to disassemble and grease this part.

Did u figure it out? Have that same exact noise as u just started a few days ago. Kinda sounds like the cv? But doesn't make the noise while turning in circles.

I have the same issue. Seems more common in reverse but it's not exclusive to reverse. Turning the wheel seems related.
I have 25K miles, booked in for a service but expect them to blame me or say its normal per usual.

It makes sense this is LCA bushings. But at this mileage? I can't see any wear on them. If anything it sounds a little like the CVs but the boots are good and there is no major play in them. My ownly other theory is the steering rack as I had a similar problem in my outback, Denso part, replaced 3x. I'm a bit lost but will see what Toyota says and share here.

ok so this is embarrassing, but it was the skid plate. The service dept didnt hear it but as soon as I took the service tech for a drive he picked up on it. Torqued bolts and all was quiet! He noted the plate carries some of the body's flex so turning the wheel is enough to tension it up and if its just a little loose, then clickity clack! So happy it was something so simple.
