I recently took my 2008 Tacoma into the dealership to have some recall work done. They advised me that the front wheel bearings needed to be replaced, however I can't afford to pay them right now so I decided to take on the project myself. As I got the tire off and was spinning the rotor a little, I noticed that the shaft between the two constant velocity joints was wobbling. As I spin the rotor, it has about a +/- 1/16" wobble. Also the rotor tends to be slightly more difficult to spin right before it wobbles a little. I wasn't sure if the slight resistance was due to when those joints in the drive shaft "flip over." I have not noticed any unusual vibration. Is this "wobble" typical and normal in Tacomas?

Also, when I spin the rotor, there is no grinding noise or rough feel. There doesn't seem to be any play or slack in the rotor indicating bad wheel bearings. Is there another thing that I can check to determine if the bearings are bad or if the dealership gave an incorrect assessment?
