I've been kicking the sand on removing my front mud flaps behind the front wheels .. but I am concerned the highway driving will destroy the paint.

Any of you guys out there have a opinion on removal of those? I understand they serve a purpose but they are a eye sore.

You can make a template and cut them to be shorter, or buy the shorter Huskies. I think a set runs around $35 with fasteners.

Every action has a reaction. It's up to you to decide if the consequences are worth it?

I did mine a year ago and I hear rocks occasionally hit the side but it isn't bad.

the day i bought my 2015, as soon as i got home from the dealership, i removed all four flaps and both sides of my truck have rock chips from front to back.
BUT i run aggressive super swampers so thats the price i pay to have badass tires

I took mine off over a year ago and have few if any noticeable chips, but I am not that picky about the paint as it is a truck.

i am in no way being a smartass by asking you this. but im from deep south louisiana and i have never seen a rusted out rocker panel. are you saying that salt from the roads up north could actually get into the rocker panels if the mudflaps were removed? im asking out of curiosity and by no means am i trying to sound like an ass

I removed the front flaps over a year ago (was going 4-wheeling in sand and didn't want to damage them or the fenders) and haven't had any problems. The front flaps are just way too long for my liking. I left the rear ones in place.

The only reason I drive a Tacoma is they come stock with mud flaps,LOL. I do like having them.

As much as I don't like the flaps because they're way too long, they do a damn good job of keeping rocks from kicking up and chipping the paint. If you care about your paint, trim or install shorter ones.

My 2013 is stock. I cut 5 inches off the front and four inches off the back mud flaps and I have no rock marks in the paint. They have been cut for two plus years now no problems. Makes my truck look higher.

I took all 4 of my mud flaps off a couple years ago. They get caught on stuff when wheeling and were going to get ripped off if I didnt take them off.
