What are the splash guards used for? What is their purpose?

 

yep, held up well,. some of the holes have warped. prob will have to order a new set soon.

I didn't read all the pages or the multiple threads that I've seen exist. So sorry if question has been asked already. Are these unique to 3rd gen? Looks identical to my 2nd gen, and I'm in the market for a pair. And finally, do you have any left or are they gone?

Soooo….

I have a 2014 AC 6MT. It is definitely a gen 2. I purchased these mud guards on faith that they would fit my truck too. Turns out they mostly do! Every tab except one, but still I had faith. With only a paper hole punch I could reach the place, fortunately on the perimeter , for the correct hole and punch a new one. I’m not sure the entire fit is as intended but it looks banging to me! I circled the gen3 hole and put an arrow to where the gen2 hole goes.

I’ll have to run these for a few months before I’d outright recommend them for gen2 owners but for a single paper punch hole I’d say it’s worth the squeeze.

Not sure if you had told me that your truck is a 2nd gen. But this is great news. Here I thought I was winding this splash guard making process to a close. Looks like there’s the potential for many more to be made
