    Help guys!!

so I have a 2020 lease Tacoma truck. Mom took it on a trip and a rock chipped the front windshield the crack expanded and now it looks bad.

should I get it replaced by Toyota or a small company? Does it matter where i replace the windshield on a lease ?

OEM quality would be best. Folks report that off-brand replacements are thinner glass.

Hope you have full glass replacement coverage. These windshields require the camera to be re-calibrated, If you go to safelite or the dealership they do it with the windshield replacement. I had a small company do mine , then I had to take it to the dealer and spend an additional $400 for the recalibration. My insurance reimbursed me but it took forever.

get estimates, I would use small mom and pop shop for best prices, I don't know if using a non OEM windshield effects the lease

I was gonna say small company but then once I saw lease I changed my mind. If ur not gonna own it after and aren’t concerned about leaks down the line then use a Toyota dealership

Aftermarket windshields have two dents at the top... anyone with one knows what I'm talking about.... OEM is nice, but unless the insurance is paying, it isnt worth the money IMO.... You'll be replacing windshields alot on these bitches... My old Jeep recieved less windshield rock chips/breaks and that thing had the aerodynamics of a shoebox.... LOL

    Call your insurance company.

Your state may require them to provide free windshield replacement. Florida does, others do too.

If you're going to turn in at the end of lease, no one at the dealership will notice anything about the windshield as long as it's intact and clean.

And they'll be distracted by the lift/wheels/tires anyway, unless you plan on removing them.

Toyota or other manufacturers don't make their own glass. When i shopped around for windshield for our Honda Pilot the dealer quoted me $900..., small business glass company was $275...guess where I went?!. If you're ever at a dealership for whatever you always see glass companies vans on their lots...the dealers farm out those jobs...save your $$$

Are you talking about top two corners. It looks like they bent the corners down and stuck it to the truck. I keep thinking one hot day I will walk to my truck and see the corner popped up. You get what you pay for. Cost me 140 and it's a 15 so no calibration needed. No leaks yet.

Bolt cracked mine in half and only cost me 250. I paid extra for the pilkington glass. The radar camera was never unplugged. It just slides out and slides back in a bracket.

That's what you get with cheap Chinese glass, if you look at it from an angle 99 percent of the time you can see how badly distorted it is.

Go through insurance, my deductible is 100 bucks so i paid 100 bucks for a brand new OEM windshield. Brand new OEM is 1200. i went to toyota and they recommend going through insurance.

my buddy just got his windshield replaced from safelite. 2017 Dodge mini van. They got glue all over the interior, (dash and leather seats) and glue all over the roof and broke a plastic piece near the windshield. He took it back to complain and they used some kind of a scraper to remove the roof glue and scratched up the roof paint and now they have to pay to re paint the roof. He still has to find out how they are going to replace the plastic piece near the windshield that they broke. He didnt mention to me if they fixed the glue all over the interior, maybe they fixed that, who knows. He is so pissed....

If it's a lease just replace it with the cheapest one you can find. You just need to return the leased vehicle in whole with everything intact that was there when you leased it. You could get in an accident and replace with non-OEM parts and it wouldn't affect your lease return. Most leased vehicles just go to auction anyways after they're returned.
