the later model Xterras(2012-2014) were actually pretty good and reliable. I know a few people that had them. All around good vehicles.

the reality is most people don't need a off road truck, but many do need the bed of the truck for home depot tree/plant/mulch runs.

almost pulled the trigger on one in 2012 that was a copy of my 2001 in hindsight it might have been the wise move considering mine was over 220k miles at that point. Live and learn

I almost picked up a 2014 at the end of 2020 with 80k miles for 12k. I should have. now it's probably 50% more

Yeah that is probably one of the best, can't think of seeing many complaints of transmission failures on a prius.

My 2004 Pathfinder's 3.5 V6 was rock solid. Smoothest engine I have ever owned. The odd time I'd go to start the engine and it was already running! That's how smooth it was. It did like to drink oil in between oil changes tho. Apparently a common issue with these engines. The auto trans never gave me any issues as well. Traded it in after 15 years of solid reliable use for my 2020 Tacoma. The Tacoma's V6 due to the D-4S duel injection system is loud and and a little rough. There are periods when the engine is smoothly idling (maybe in port injection mode but then it starts this cycle up and down in RPM's and vibrate.

    https://www.wardsauto.com/technology/toyota-advances-d4s-self-cleaning-feature-tacoma

"Drivers may hear the self-cleaning taking place during a hot idle, and the process could last from 10 seconds to as long as 10 minutes, depending on driving patterns and the amount of build-up on the injectors".

My 2020 toyota tacoma 3.5 v6 is super smooth. There's times when i come to a stop, and think the engine quit. I'll turn the key only to hear the starter grind. Been really happy the way it runs. Make me wonder why many say this is a rough running engine.

I had a new 79 Datsun king cab, bought a 4x4 kit from a magazine cheaper than I could get a 4by Toyota and it was awesome off-road, 1st one on island….kept it til 84, sold it to pay for move to Big Island.
Than Nissan took over Datsun and it was down hill ever since….imo, then Toyota was king, until 3rd gen, but still like my Taco….

My Taco replaced this '05 Frontier Nismo, man I miss the low end grunt of the VQ40 and using the hashtag #onelesstaco...but that's about it. Took a bunch of great trips in that truck, but towards the end wondering if I was going to make it home was half the adventure.

See a couple Pro4-X Frontiers on my way to and from work. Neither of them seem to move from their driveways. Really a good looking machine though. Especially in bog standard white.

Being a passenger in my buddies new frontier pro4 x, i was impressed. They ride nice. I think most would be very happy owning one. As far as any off road use, idk, but it'll do everything my sr5 is used for just as well, or better.

After seeing the new one up close, I don't like it. Seems like Nissan tried crossing a Taco with an old Honda ridgeline and got an uglier truck than it's parents. I took this picture, yuk, I hate tght transition from the headlight/grill to fender with that ugly vertical slot and stupid fender horn.

yeah, the color is fine and I am sure the pro4x version looks better to. This one was plain jane, but I still can't get over the fender area in front.

    Work in progress...
That Subaru Wilderness is going to put all of these trucks to shame in the looks department. That Wilderness is going to be a head turner for sure.
