Hey guess what? I got my V6 taco back today from repair shop. Moving to it from 4cyl felt like moving from sedan to a tank.

True, slow and steady wins the race. Its the pull that matters, not the speed.

The turbo 4 has more pull…

Same or more HP, considerably more torque, and better gearing. But ok.

Not relevant, a civic doesn’t have more torque. The Honda civic is more like V6 than the turbo 4 anyways. Horsepower with less torque.

I feel like he’s actually @4runnerToTacoma, or closely related at the bare minimum. 4Runner was always calling the 4 cylinder a “lawn mower” engine. A turbo 4 cylinder would be pretty sweet on a lawn mower, but I digress. Then he mysteriously stopped posting and this sauro account was created (7 days after 4R stopped). Both own a 2023 SR5. Both from NJ. Both have a dad with a 2023 OR. Both same type of writing and grammar. Both constantly crapping on 4th gen and touting pro-3rd gen nonsense, especially engine wise. Lol. Kind of entertaining, but no merit to any of it. Maybe they’re not the same person, but very similar at least.

None of it really matters, but at least he should have arguments that make sense. He is essentially arguing that the V6 has more torque. Completely false. Maybe his driving style doesn’t show him the benefits of the turbo motor, or maybe he is so anti-turbo that he refuses to see any benefits. No telling.

I never did have 4runner, but lets not compare one of the greatest trucks ever made to baby tundra with engine failures

Are you saying the new tacoma has engine failures? Or are you referring to the new tundra?

That’s the Beauty of the new frontier , that it is almost the same truck rolling gear . I’ve owned a few with no issues . All of them were manuals so no worries with the radiator thing a ways back . The tuning radius didn’t bother me at all . The manual trans really was nice and both ran along time with no real issues . Struts , one set of u joints , 1 set of 4 wheel hubs on both , shocks , struts / coil overs , and brakes . 500 k plus miles combined and that’s it . I think the Frontier is well made truck . Simple and to the point, and totally underrated in my opinion. The Ranger would be at the bottom of my list , not to mention I think it looks terrible.

I don’t think the new one is worth what they’re charging, although I haven’t looked at them in a while and so they are probably much cheaper. They are definitely not worth MSRP to me. I’m mostly upset wuth the chassis being basically identical (no real R&D, yet they are charging like there is tons of R&D for a “total redesign”), the engine not being dual injected is also not ideal, and lastly, the lack of a manual is a deal breaker for me.

I really liked the old Frontier, just wish my 2 had been better built. Didn’t want to ditch them but overall the Toyota has been the better truck so far. If I found a good condition older manual with below 200K miles, I’d buy it. Turning radius was pretty large, but it didn’t bother me too much. I do appreciate how much better the Tacoma turns though.
