The fact that you would be able to ask this question suggests that you should be able to figure out the answer to that without anyone helping you.
But in case you are still confused.... IT WONT.

Isn’t the purpose of a physical key to open the door when power isn’t available. What you are saying goes against logic and the op’s post where he unlocked it with the key. Burden of proof is on you.
I gave you the benefit of the doubt the first time. But thanks for let us know you really are a douchebag.

Do you honestly think he only turned the key in just 1 direction? How is everyone acting like this statement wasn’t said! My god!

Sad story but true . I read about a guy who was inside his Corvette and he ran the battery dead and he couldn't unlock the doors or get the windows down and ended up passing away in there .

You've failed to read the thread obviously, because the OP didn't accomplish anything with the key. He couldn't get into the vehicle because the door was frozen shut, it was already unlocked.

Oh, and here is the part you're looking for:
    https://www.toyotapartsdirect.ca/a/...31/Lock-cylinder-set/673645C-6765-674470.html

Notice how its electric only -- no mechanical levers.
And you have just joined an exclusive club... the ignored club. That's what ignorance and hostility will get you.

Lol ok bud. OP said he turned the key thus unlocking the door but it was frozen shut. And you linked a lock cyclinder for a 2011 sooo...you have failed to read the thread. And you did me a favor.

It was only already unlocked because he unlocked it with the key on one of his first attempts, but the door was frozen shut and he did not realize it was unlocked. He did not notice that it was unlocked until much later on.

Why doesn’t somebody just end this debate by disconnecting the battery and unlocking their door? :annoyed:

I know my 2011, which he linked the parts diagram from, will lock and unlock with the key in the door and no battery in the truck.

Try it then. Go ahead. Unplug your battery, close your hood, lock and close your doors, and try to get back in.

    Have fun.

Reading must not be your strong suit. I have already been in that situation, with my truck and with my Lexus RC350. I just used the key. You should try it, without the battery disconnected. You will feel the door unlock without the mechanical noise you hear when using the fob. If it were still electronic I would not expect to feel it unlocking, and I would expect it to sound exactly as if I were using the fob.

BTW - Can you explain the purpose of the key since you believe it serves the same function as the fob?

I'm not sure mechanical or not discussion you are in but I thought key was for if the battery in fob goes dead .

He’s a troll... was all up in arms on the broken diff thread a couple weeks ago. Not sure if I’m on ignore yet but hope he considers this my formal request.

I guess the ignore list is similar to a safe space for anyone that disagrees with him.
