    Yeah Planted brackets.

I've currently got the passenger side on hold. Bracket is in my garage I still just need to acquire a seat when I have the time.

Excited to see how this shapes up! You mentioned the passenger side will be trickier, is that just because of the occupancy sensor?

Yeah it's just a matter of plugging the OCS bypass I got to the OEM sensor harness, installing the seat, swapping Tacoma connector to FRS airbag wiring and done. Really is actually easier than the driver side.

Just thought about this.. if the FRS seat comes with an occupant sensor, would swapping the pins (like you did with the airbag) work?

Ah yes one would think so HOWEVER, 2nd gen Tacomas use a pressure sensor system to ID someone is in the seat. The FRS uses an electronic field system or whatever to sense the passenger, so they don't operate the same and the harness plugs are different/wiring diagram is totally different.

The 3rd gen Tacomas incorporate this same new tech as the FRS though.

Which is why if I leave a heavy backpack or whatever in pass seat the truck thinks someone is there, but if a 3rd genner leaves a phone or similar electronic device in the seat the truck will think someone is there.

Gotcha. I've seen guys in the Audi world swap seats with a similar pressure sensor system. I think it uses an air bladder. Is that our case with the tacoma? (i haven't done much research there). If so (and this is probably a pain the butt) could the stock occupancy system be swapped into the FRS seat?

Tacoma had like a gel filled setup if I recall correct based on pics I've seen of the reg cab guys swapping to buckets.

You could probably swap the whole deal over but I have no patience for that lol. And my main goal is to keep the OEM seats untouched so I can always sell them or go back to stock for whatever reason if need be.

 curious how this works out, I've been holding off for a TRD trim since the seats are supposedly more comfortable but this could help steer me towards an SR5

Just a note for the bypass. You have to have it flipped to ON, prior to buckling up or the airbag won’t turn on.

I received my Aironboard airbag switch and learned I need to do some modifications to get it to illuminate how I want it, without compromising the OCS bypass circuit. I talked with user "CTscott" over on yarisworld. He is the originator of the bypass and who MetalTech4x4 buys them from, from what I understand. He told me the LEDs for the switch need to be on an entirely different circuit so as not to damage the OCS module. SO after searching through some of his posts as he suggested, I found one of his switch diagrams on how to modify the switch so the LEDs operate independently. Thread on yaris world: www.yarisworld.com/forums/showpost.php?p=299907&postcount=39

I'm not 100% why his diagram shows the + jumper from the center lead bypassing the LED resistor. I don't plan to.

Below are the diagrams I intend to use.

Also thanks to @Sandman614 for answering a few other questions I had. His thread on his fog switch modification using an AOB switch and pics of the internals were very helpful. His thread is here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...n-switch-for-fog-light-factory-wiring.407092/

    SwitchDiagramOCSswitching.jpg

On this diagram above (altered from @Sandman614 's thread) basically on the modified version with jumpers, switch 1 and switch 1.5 are the same switch, and will "turn on" simulatenously when switch is depressed in ON position. So you light up your upper LED, and also give continuity between OCS wire IN and OCS wire OUT, just on separate circuits. Fun!

And of course, the lower independent LED will light up whenever dash lights are on.

I guess the only potential issue is that the upper LED will only light if dash is on. I don't really have much recourse to fix that. The dash airbag indicator next to the clock will let me know if the switch is on anyway. I could add another pin to the blank terminal like Sandman did in his thread and do a little tweaking to my diagram.

I’m going to hang on to them. Especially since some of the electronics/seat buckles have been transferred to my FRS seats. If I ever want to go back to stock or sell the truck I’ll have them to put back in.

Soldered the jumper wires and semi-potted the circuit board with neutral cure silicone. Will let it cure for the 24hr then finish the install tomorrow.
