I know the title sounds odd:facepalm:

However , to the more experienced on the site with a long term relationship with their taco.

I've noticed that when shifting from forwards to reverse,....or vise versa...
    And applying the brakes...

I hear a clicking sound from the front end???

I've had pleanty of Fords and GM notorios for making this sound!
It was loose brake pad ears (usually undersized), that would cause this sound.

It's my understanding that the pads on my Taco are held in with pins (gonna see when I put the winter tires on soon).

BTW, mine is a 4 piston setup, up front.

No shaking, or abnormal behavior beyond that,....just the click,...then nothing afterwards...

    Ever notice on your?

    Cheers,
    Perry

    Ex-Toyota tech here..

Yes tons of them do that. Tiny amount of play in the pads. Nothing abnormal at all and won’t hurt or wear anything prematurely.

    Hope that helps.

Lots of dollars and no sense...
Yeah there is a thread some where on this I think labeled brake slap.. General consensus that everyone experiences it when transferring between F/R and R/F. I thought I had a real problem. Haven't noticed anything but the noise to this point.

100% normal. It's the brake pads shifting.

    As mentioned above, normal.

The way to get rid of it, at least temporarily is to lube the pin that the pads slide on with silicone brake lubricant. The lube lasts about a year then once it dries up it's back to clickity clack.

Go find a rough road, potholes, or a washboard.... Then listen to the noise... Sounds like an epileptic with tap shoes

Gently ride the brakes for a second..... Silence.
