    Good evening TW Forum Members:

I am a new member to the forum .

I have a 2018 Tacoma TRD Sport with the 6’ bed and entune touch screen radio with navigation not with premium sound .

I have two issues one the dealer says is a characteristic and one they are not able to duplicate .

My truck has been to 2 dealers for blue tooth phone issues . I have a Verizon iPhone XS Max .

My phone does the following on multiple occasions : doesn’t connect to the head set ; drop calls from headset or switches to handset unit by itself . I have to switch to speaker phone or use blue tooth headphones . Feels like my headset is useless for phone usage .

I have had two dealers look at it : they are unable to duplicate it . I tried my dads phone and had a similar issue .

I was instructed to take video which I took 3 and showed it to the dealer . The videos were apparently useless because they need to duplicate the issue which they were unable to in the end of the day . I have reset network settings on the phone , I have wiped the phone and headset of the blue tooth connection and re paired the phone . I don’t have emojis in my contacts the dealer asked if I did .

I have had to get Toyota customer service from corporate involved . I am waiting on a call from the Customer service liaison . I’m going to pickup the truck without a fix . They are trying to blame the toll road transponder, apps on my phone .

I have had the truck for almost 2 years , and had the current phone since December 2018 with no issues up until about a month or two ago .

I am very frustrated that I seem to be going in circles with no solution in site .

The other issue is the spark knock they call it on acceleration is like a grinding groaning noise . The truck shifts rough which they said is a characteristic . Although I spoke to a friend who had a 4x4 model and didn’t have that issue . Maybe I’m wrong , if it’s a characteristic should it happen to a lot if not all owners .

Any advice , suggestion or input on the headset or spark knock/transmission issues would be greatly appreciated .

    Thank you so much .

Well, because he’s a new member and he posted in the new member section. Never hurts to say hello. Plus then it keeps the thread bumped so there’s increased potential for someone with answers to see it.

My 2016 did this, and it was an issue with the pairing process for me. Try deleting your profile from the truck, then re-pairing it.

Yeah, that’s what I’m talking about. It only happened to be when I paired it the first time and had issues. Deleted and repaired and it worked fine.

Welcome to TW! Hopefully your issues get resolved. Try higher octane or non ethanol gas for spark knock. Good luck man.

I started having the same issues with the radio a few weeks back. Wife is having the same issues in her highlander
Figured it was something wrong from either an update or an iOS update

Dealerships suck. I was told that my tires are causing the front passengers side to sit an inch closer to the wheel wells than the drivers side. They just make shit up and hopes that you are fucking stupid. Keep at them, but be nice.

Bluetooth issues are normally with the device and not with the unit in the vehicle. Delete phone from the unit. Hard reset the phone, then try to repair. If still an issue, download the newest iOS/update and try that.

Welcome from another noob. My 2016 RAV4 computer had all kinds of issues which weren't related to my iPhone. The nav voice would stop in the middle of a sentence, and I only ever got voice commands to work once, about a week before I traded it in. It all worked fine for about a year (until the warranty ran out), then the voice prompts started cutting off. When I brought the issue to the dealership, they had me factory reset the computer/nav, update my iPhone, delete the bluetooth connection, then reconnect. It never fixed the problem. Good thing I usually knew where I was going, because it's unnerving to hear the computer say, "right turn at..." and never finish the directions. It also stopped reading text messages. I hope you have better luck with your computer issues than I did.
