Frustrating purchase...

I have been trying to order a TRD Sport DCSB 4x2 in blue orange or red for nearly 2 months and the dealer can't seem to get it.

So I acquiesced today and got a red SR5 DCSB 4x4. I would really rather have preferred the features but I guess it'll be easier to trade next time around.

 

It sounds like your whining about buying a truck that no one forced you to buy.

I agree and I tried. It was either buy a SR model with two wheel drive or a TRD Sport or Off-road for significantly more money. I usually get a new one every couple of years so I think I'll survive.

People order trucks all the time, why couldn't you order one or use a different dealer?

Actually I spoke to 4 dealers and got the run around regarding the price. The dealer I ended up buying from gave me the truck below invoice and traded with another dealer that wasn't local. Again, it was just surprising that I couldn't find a 2wd.

 

Do you live in a small town and miles away from a big city? 4x2 DCSB sport and you were open to 3 different color options?

I can probably stop at any toyota dealer on the way home and find that....

I came in just to post this exact same thing.

 

Nope DC area. I even checked Cars.com to check what other dealers have. The 2wd TRD sports got snatched up before I got to them (once calling dealers to confirm availability).

 

Just FYI, neighbor, I had a great experience with Fitzgerald in Gaithersburg when I bought mine a few years back. Maybe give them a call next time. GL with the SR5; I suspect you'll still enjoy it. See ya around the beltway!

Interesting, maybe it is because I'm in Socal. Opposite market here, 2wd are abundant, 4wd you have to play the game on.

I work in the DC area and there are several Toyota dealers that would have ordered one for you.

 

Sweet. I actually kind of wish I had gotten a red one myself -- I went with the metallic grey, which is nice, but man... every car around here is grey, black or white. lol
