    Thank you.

Is the resistance I’m meeting with this common in the industry?

I didn't do the 4 DAFs until 55k. The every 15k, which is once a year for me, is just to keep the fluid fresh.

As for your opinion? I couldn't give 2 fucks what you feel is best for my truck or how I should spend my time and money.

The resistance ? There are all kinds of opinions

Everybody has an opinion on when to change the fluid and how it should be changed .
You are the owner of the truck and only " you " know how you treat your truck and what variables come into play for servicing . Do you tow ? do you offroad ? All kinds of stop and go traffic ? Are you in an area of the world where its very warm ? are you in an area of the world where its very cold ?
I cant tell you when to service your trans fluid because I dont know how you guys operate your trucks . Each truck has a different set of variables

I have 4000 private messages from members here at Tacoma World . If I had to guess , 1000 of those pm,s are from members who had issues after they flushed thier transmission through the cooling lines without removing the pan and filter first .

Save yourself some grief and spend $ 5 bucks on a pan gasket and a can of brake clean to wash your re-usable filter .

Well I agree with the shop. You are playing roulette with a flush. I don't like forcing fluid through it at pressures greater than the flow of the ATF oil. I would just gravity drain and replace the ATF with OEM AWS or equivalent fluid. Yes, you don't get it all but if you do every 60K miles you get enough out that it will keep it going for a really long time. I've got 150K miles on my 2010 and have just drained and filled it every 60K miles. Never had a lick of trouble or problem behavior. I had the dealer do it the first time and an independent service shop do it last year. I asked questions at the shop like HOW do you do a Tacoma. They answered that you must fill it and get the transmission to the specified temp before adjusting the level and sealing it back up. They said they do Tacomas all the time and are aware of the procedure.

You throw an awful lot of shade and judgment for a guy who is supposedly a financial advisor.

Do you really expect people to hire you when you approach everyone with a condescending attitude?
You want people to trust you with their hard earned dollars when you think people working hard is beneath you?

I work a second job because I love it. I have a lot of fun, meet great people, and I’m learning how to run that type of business because I’d like to do it one day.

Even if I was working a second job to pay my bills, who are you to ever demean that if that is what it takes for someone to eat, or pay off debt, pay for my monthly insulin, or care for a sick family member?

I appreciate your deep concern for my wellbeing but I’m doing just fine. So fine in fact I can chose how I spend my time and money.

    Have a nice day.

This is how I feel. When I told that one guy I tow 7000lbs a day for work (which is untrue) he didn’t change his recommendation or ask any further questions. He just told me “he doesn’t recommend I do anything”.

    I will keep calling shops.

I just don’t feel comfortable letting the fluid sit. I do tow, I haul at full payload 4-5 times a year, I live in a climate that gets below zero frequently and I drive 20k miles a year.

Hey PackCon, for me life got a lot easier when I figured out who to pay attention to & who "Not to pay attention to". You've got much bigger things to dwell on, like family & the price of insulin. Folks here sure ain't noth'in to get you twisted. Good luck.

I had a hard thump seemed like it was coming from under dash on hard acceleration and when I would abruptly let off the throttle.

I drained and filled Trans once and it seemed to fix my hard thump. Seemed to parallel your situation a little.

I just take a big measuring pitcher. Drain the pan into it. Measure. Replace with the exact same amount of toyota WS. I do it every oil change (about twice a year). Havnt had an issue. Fluid stays reddish

I performed the method of removing the level plug and let it drain to a trickle once it got up to temp. It was pretty easy to access the fill areawith a hose an just pump in. Lots of space to work under these things
