I didn't even know that the plastic didn't have to be removed. (I took it in to a shop to get installed, they removed it.)

 

Yes, that picture has made me even more interested. If you can figure out the max depth for the sub that would be awesome. Usually the manufacturer of the part will be able to help you with specs like mounting depth.

If not then yes, the only other way to find out would be to measure the subwoofer from top to bottom.

 

I had this unit in my 08 tacoma but sold it with the truck. Scosche discontinued it but it was a nice sub. Sounded great. Installation was simple and you don't have to modify ANYTHING to get it to fit.

Well, the efx sub that comes with it measures out to about to 4".
Im sure a sub w/ mounting depth of 5" should work perfectly..

Maybe you could use Subwoofer spacers to achieve the correct mounting depth you need??
