Reply sent to you. Thanks! I have some photos of our other models of wheels in matte bronze on MGM trucks, but no photos of matte bronze Five Stars on MGM at the moment.

I apologize in advance if this question was already asked but why is there such a difference in offset between the 16" and the 17"

According to this on a pre-runner what does that lift translate into on a 2011 4x4 trd sport

No need to apologize! That is a great question.

With the 16x8" / -25mm offset our intention was to offer a unique, aggressive fitment. The lower offset also allows for the wheel to have a deeper lip and more concave spoke profile. This fitment is very aggressive though, so it's not for everyone (but it looks awesome on a truck with the right setup).

The 17x8.5" / -6mm offset version is still pretty aggressive, but it will work for a broader range of people. We selected this particular fitment to accommodate a wide range of tires that are popular with Toyota trucks (stock sized tires : 265/65R17 up to 35" / 315/70R17 and everything in between).

The difference in "stance" between 16x8" / -25mm offset and 17x8.5" / -6mm offset is approximately .5" per side.

FYI - We will be releasing a 16x8" / 0mm offset (4.5" backspacing) FN Wheels Five Star by March 2015. The spoke profile will be more similar to the 17x8.5" / -6mm offset. We will continue to offer the 16x8" / -25mm offset version as well, since it's been very popular for us.

Please let me know if you have any other questions at all. :)

If you have a 4x4 the lift will be a little more complicated, since it's not as simple as just changing out the front spindles (since a 4x4 has front axles and a 2WD Tacoma PreRunner does not).

Your options for lifting a 4WD Tacoma 4.0" + would be to do something like the BDS 4.0" lift, or a long travel setup such as this:

Currently driving on 8 x 16 Countersteer wheels from you and they are great wheels! I do like these 5 spoke wheels. I have the matte bronze and like them a lot on my Spruce mica Tacoma.

Thank you for your interest in our wheels! Yes. We expect to have the wheels back in stock and ready to ship by the end of this month. :)

Sweet! I'd love to see more photos of your truck! If you ever want to change over to the Five Stars (or even get them as a second set) just let me know!

I have a 2012 tacoma 4x4 and interested in the 16" five star wheel. Do you or anyone know if I upgrade my brakes in the future to a Tundra big brake unit if the wheels will clear? I would prefer not to run the 17" if possible.

I could have sworn I read somewhere that the tundra big breaks need 18" rims to fit

Yes there is, it just takes some modification

Well its a land Cruiser with a diesel so I've got that going for me.
A second gen with a set of good pads, rotors and lines will do it all. The first gen boys love them tundra brakes.

There isn't much room left for any larger rotor or caliper on 16s. Just my .02.

You're absolutely right, friend. I'm sitting on some Brembo rotors and hawk pads myself, waiting to install. I was just pointing out that you can install the tundra kit lol. Will just have to modify stuff I'm sure

Or maybe I'm thinking the Xrunner TRD big brake kit requires 18s..

If the brake calipers and rotors came off of a 6-lug Tundra (model year 2006 or earlier), the 16" Five Stars will most definitely clear the brakes.

2006 and earlier Tundra brakes require a 16" minimum wheel diameter.

2007+ Tundra (5x150 bolt pattern hubs) brakes require a minimum 17" diameter.

Might not be a bad idea... :) I do love the TRD Baja wheels though (even though I'd love to get you a set of Five Stars too).

I know! I love them too! Just not sure if they'll match the Color of my new truck, which is still to be determined :).

5-star come with backspacing that will allow for larger tires and not have to run spacers :D

you'd be surprised how some colors can match...bronze on a dark blue truck may sound odd at first, until you see it...then you

Yea, I'm holding out for a spruce mica DCSB 4x4 trd sport. And these are the gun metal and silver ring beadlocks, not the bronze. I think black on spruce mica would be fine but the gun metal would look wonky IMHO. Plus, as you said, I can run there without spacers. Especially in the back to clear bypasses :anonymous:
