Definitely the 0 offset if you want to cycle the suspension all the way. I don't know of everyone would agree. The only way you will be able to cycle the -25 would be with a lift and 32s max.

I'm gonna figure it out with 285 and 2.5 of lift. If the guys can run 35s on 3 inch lifts it can work

Any pictures from the front or rear of the truck looking down the side to see how the wheel set in comparison to the fender.
    Thank you.

Will the TRD caps work on these without modifications to the caps they come with?

I drive a Pyrite Mica Taco....

Do you think the matte bronze would look okay?
    Or too close in color...
not sure...not being there in person makes it tough to decide

Love these star wheels or the flat countersteers

Rob (illusivema70) is exactly right. We added the 0mm offset as an option for guys who are looking for a less aggressive, "every day" fitment or for those who want to be able to run 33" tires with a mild lift and not have to worry so much about rubbing.

The 16x8" / -25mm offset pushes the wheels out an additional 1" per side (over the 16x8" / 0mm offset), which might be too aggressive for some people.

By offering two offsets we now have more options for you guys who love the Five Star but don't need/want an aggressive offset, and likewise we will continue to offer the -25mm offset for those who do want / need something more aggressive.

    Hi Eric,

Are you looking for photos down the side of the truck with the 0mm offset or the -25mm offset?

You can use an OEM TRD cap part # PTR18-35092 with the 16x8" / 0mm offset Five Stars or the 17x8.5" / -6mm offset Five Stars.

Thanks for posting, and I'm glad you like our wheels! If I had a Pyrite Mica truck I would go with matte bronze or matte black. The matte bronze looks excellent on Pyrite Mica. I definitely understand what you're saying about the color. You don't want a color that is so similar to Pyrite Mica that it looks funky. I think that our matte bronze compliments Pyrite Mica very nicely without clashing. The color is different enough from Pyrite Mica that you won't confuse it for a color-matched wheel that doesn't quite match (if that makes sense), but it is similar enough to compliment the rest of the truck.

Otherwise, if you are more comfortable with a neutral color you can't go wrong with matte black on Pyrite Mica.

Here is member @edgerat 's truck (Pyrite Mica with 17" Five Stars in matte bronze) for a reference to the color combination:

Both offsets if you have them. Also, do you have any pictures of a silver sky metallic (same as above) with bronze wheels?
    Thanks

There's a pic of an extended cab silver with bronze a few pages back. Looks great and exactly what I am planning to do.

Same. I'm wondering if the gunmetal would be awesome too or too close to a match to the truck

Working on getting some more photos for you guys. We've been shipping out more and more of the 16x8" / 0mm offset / 4.5" backspacing, but all I can do is ask my customers for photos and hope they have the time to take some and send some to me. If anyone local to Southern California with a (relatively) clean and straight truck and preferably a 2"-3" lift would like to make arrangements to bring their truck by to take photos I will reimburse gas + lunch and/or dinner. :)

If you guys are just looking to see how the "stance" looks, we have been offering the Konig Countersteer Offroad 16x8" / 0mm offset / 4.5" backspacing for a number of years (same exact specs as the new fitment for the Five Stars), and I have thousands of pictures of Tacomas with the Countersteer Offroads.

Also, we have a number of photos of the 17x8.5" / -6mm offset / 4.5" backspacing Five Star (which was released about a year ago) installed on Tacomas. There is a .5" difference in "stance" between the 16x8" / 0mm offset and 17x8.5" / -6mm offset, and the spoke profile / lip size is also very similar between the two. With a little imagination these photos might help until we start getting more photos of the new 16x8" / 0mm offset Five Stars installed on Tacomas. :)

There are quite a number of photos throughout this thread of the -25mm offset installed on trucks. Sky Silver is still a (relatively) new color for the Tacoma. We have a number of photos of matte bronze on Silver Streak Tacomas (the silver that was available before Sky Silver). I think matte bronze would look as good or better on Sky Silver, since Sky Silver is a little darker silver (compared to Silver Streak).

As noted above, I'm working on getting some more photos showcasing the 16x8" / 0mm offset, but if you want to just see the difference in "stance" I can send you comparison photos using a different wheel (16x8" Konig Countersteer Offroad).

I'll try to make some phone calls to a few local contacts and see if we can't mount a few sets of 16x8" / 0mm offset Five Stars to do some photos shoots for you guys.

In the meantime you can take my word for it that the wheels look great, and there isn't too much of difference in looks from all the photos posted of the trucks with the 16x8" / -25mm offset or the 17x8.5" / -6mm offset (which we still offer as well in case anyone was wondering). ;) :)

Do you know what tire size he has? looks to me like 285/75. I want this rim in this size with a 33" MTR but where I live we have a stupid law of not allowing tires to stick out and this looks flush so I shouldnt have problems.

Can I see a picture of the 16x8 with -25 on 3inches of lift with 285/75/R16s? Thinking of buying these.

Hi @Yotski - the customer in that photo has 265/75R16 tires actually. I am familiar with recon inspection on Oahu (where you live). You shouldn't have any trouble with the 16x8" / +0mm offset / 4.5" backspacing FN Wheels Five Stars. We came out with this less aggressive offset (compared to the -25mm offset / 3.5" backspacing) for customers like yourself.

With that said, it's hard to predict whether or not you'll get a tough inspector and how strict they choose to be. Generally speaking none of my customers that I am aware of on Oahu (and I have hundreds of customers on Oahu) have had a problem with a 16x8" / 0mm offset wheel and 285/75R16 tire passing recon inspection. The 16x8" / -25mm offset would be too aggressive for you unless you installed fender flares or custom mud flaps to pass inspection on Oahu.

One more thing to consider - if you are going with 285/75R16 tires you're going to need a wheel with no more than 5" backspacing in order to clear your upper control arms (4.5" preferred on a 16" wheel), so you don't have too many options for a less aggressive wheel with that tire size.

Thanks! Here are a couple of photos that I know have a 3" lift (approximately) and definitely have 285/75R16. I am sure we have a lot more photos as well, but I've been slow in uploading customer submitted photos:

Thanks! As I come across more photos of our 16x8" Five Stars on First Gen Tacomas I will post them.
