Just an FYI, I wouldn’t take this through the automatic car wash! My first time through it bent my plate up and in half from the bottom left corner. I rigged something up with 4 zip ties to tie the bottom holes to the bracket, that might do the trick.

OP, have you come up with any kind of attachable bracket or something to give it a solid mount on the bottom? I’d probably buy one if you have!

I am very sorry to hear that your local car wash went crazy on your plate. I am guessing it wash a brush car wash? I have sold a couple hundred or so of these brackets and if anyone has had this problem before I haven’t heard of it. Can anyone else chime in if they have had a similar experience?

Ironically enough, I have just made a set of bottom brackets that hold the bottom of the plate rigid like the top. If this is something you are interested in then let me know as they could be retrofitted to your existing bracket but they are not plug and play. They would require a bit of massaging to get them to work. Plus I would be concerned that the same rebel brush that bent your plate might try to grab the plate and bracket and cause some damage to more than just the plate. But I am more than willing to work with you to try and solve this problem to your satisfaction. It may be better to switch back to our previous conversation and the revisit this thread once we come up with a solution. That way we do not bore people in this thread.

    What do you think?

No worries, the zip ties may make this work. If I have an issue next time, I’ll PM you, but I agree, it seemed to be a rather “aggressive” car wash so I doubt it’s common.

Do you have some kind of frame on there that makes it more rigid? Hard to tell from the pic.

@Z7Xtreme has a bracket “frame” also that may stiffen the bracket up a bit and make it less likely it would catch and bend.

The car wash I went through honestly would have bent it in the stock location, so it’s hard to prevent (at that place). I actually looked at other plates in the parking lot today and just about everyone’s is clearly bent and then bent back. Maybe Colorado just makes flimsy plates.

Awesome product, no plans to use anything else, just posted this to say be careful in car washes!

There is one other option. I have a small Ryobi impact “gun”. It is weak and underpowered and not good for a lot but it would work to very quickly loosen and then tighten the bolts that hold the bracket on. With that tool it would literally take you a minute each to remove before the wash then reinstall after the car wash. No damage that way!

I may throw an allen key in the glove box to do that. The bracket can take a beating, I’d just take the plate off.

I had thought of that but I wasn’t sure how much of a beast that car wash is.

Finally installed and must say it is a solid product! Gave mine a few coats of plastidip to match the truck a little better. Also super easy to install (would've only take 15 min or so but I had a dumb moment. Tried to loosen a screw by tightening it. Needless to say stripped allen heads are a pain to get off).

    Just one more satisfied customer...

The mount arrived in a very timely fashion (and was incredibly well-packaged, I might add). The instructions are really easy to follow, though you don't even really need them as it's pretty clear from the shape of the pieces how it's supposed to go together. I had to put a tiny bit more bend on one of the arms to make the plate perfectly straight, which seems pretty reasonable considering the potential variation in the mounting surface (i.e., my bumper is probably a few mm of wonky). All together, super easy, and I'm very impressed by the quality. The design is clearly very well thought-out and executed with great attention to detail.

Can't recommend this plate mount highly enough -- so much better than drilling into my front bumper.
    Thanks, Aaron!

Sorry, no picture. Got mine installed. Painted it black to hide it against the black truck. Added a black metal license plate frame for some added stiffness.
All went together well and fit great. Very pleased with the result. Thanks!
