Finally got around to putting it on the Tacoma and posting. Great purchasing experience and even better feeling knowing there's no holes!

No marketplace. Posting in the thread is the first step. I will start a conversation to work out the details. Look for the conversation notification in the upper right hand corner.

Thought I'd give an update after two years. Bracket still as strong and sturdy as ever. Last time I went through an auto car wash, the bracket stayed in tact, the licence plate frame, not so much.

Glad to hear that the mount is holding up but sorry to hear the plate frame took a hit. Any pictures?

So the dealer that I bought my 2011 Tacoma from decided to just drill two holes in the bumper just below the grill, just so they could stick a dealership advertising plate on the front. I would like to do the lower plate mount that you have, but does anyone have any advice for dealing with the two holes that were drilled into the bumper? I just really hate how it looks because they are not even level or lined up straight.

Edit: I want to move the plate down because I want to put a light bar in the lower grille, and where the plate with the drilled holes is currently covers the front grille.

Hi and welcome to Tacoma World. There is a new members section which people will often visit to introduce themselves to and a good way to get up to speed is to subscribe to the "What have you done to your 2nd Gen Tacoma today?" thread.

As for your question, there are several solutions to your problem. The least expensive is to visit your local hardware store and purchase a couple plugs that will fill the holes and leave a little round circle where the holes where. You would need to purchase some color matched touch-up paint in a rattle can to match the plugs to the bumper color. Or you can visit bumperplugs.com for one stop shopping. But they are on the expensive side for my tastes. I have a black truck so I used some 3M automotive seam sealer to plug the holes on mine. I believe it is also possible to use some paintable, flexible silicone although I have not heard of someone actually using that method. I have also seen someone mount a thin piece of metal with the Toyota logo on it that is mounted to the front bumper cover using the same holes as the license plate but the "sign" is thin enough not to go below the bottom lip of the opening. I tried to find a copy of something close to what I found previously on the web but was unsuccessful. You could always take it to a body shop and have them do the repair professionally but that would be expensive. If anyone has any solutions I have failed to mention please chime in.

When or if you decide you want to purchase please let me know. Just start a conversation with me or let me know in this thread and I will give you all the information you need to complete the purchase!

    Thanks,

    Aaron
