Hi there, interested in Model LM-1215. Was curious if I decide to add an aftermarket skid plate, will I need to rebuy later or would it just depend on the skid plate?

Every skid plate I have seen will work with the LM-1215. While it is possible that there is a skid plate design that would not work the bracket is designed to sit close to the bumper and any skid plate should be designed to leave at least a slight gap between the skid plate and everything else underneath the skid plate so if you do hit something with the skid plate it takes the damage, not the rest of the truck. So the skid plate should never be in the way of the bracket or it would probably be ineffective.

Do I need to bend mine? They look like they are too far from the bumper.

They are definitely too far from the bumper. Check out where they mount and see if they are flush there. Or send along a couple pictures from that angle. It is sometimes necessary to bend the bracket slightly as everyone's bumper is slightly different but we are talking a quarter of an inch, not 3 or more inches. I have not had anyone send a picture after mounting with the bracket that far away from the bumper so something wonky is going on.

Honestly I just bought this truck and the mount was already installed so perhaps the previous owner did not mount correctly? I just happed to stumble upon your post while looking for a no drill license plate mount and realized it was the same mount.

I have attached more pics. Thank you for the quick reply.

I think the picture below tells the story. It appears to me that the metal backing plate that the bumper cover sits over is bent. I would not think that the aluminum bracket was strong enough to bend the metal where it is attached. It you bend the back end of that metal lip down it should move the bracket up and closer to the bumper cover in front. That is what I would try to correct the issue. Let me know if this does not make sense.
