is there a little extra "headroom" under the cover? my cooler sticks up over the bedrails maybe an inch. would love it if i could still fit it under the cover.

 

There is some room, but it’s dependent on the size of the cooler and where you place it due to the locking rods. The highest spot is dead center from left to right, which gives about 17 1/2” of vertical clearance. I have an Engel 65 and it fits fine, even off to the side.

 

the engel is 16 3/4" and my rtic is 17 1/8". That will be CLOSE haha if you get a chance, can you put a tape measure in there for me?

 

I would, but I took the cover off. I’m confident in the 17 1/2”, and that includes my BedRug which is another 1/2”. Your RTIC would fit fine.

I've got a grubb box that 17-1/2" tall x24" wide it fits under my diamondback with the ome bed rug.
It only fit without hitting the locking bars in the center of the bed with 1/2"-1" clearance.
