    Almost certain that the only seats that started comming with side air bags would be the 09+

    Not true. My first 2006 tacoma had side air bags, it was an option . I traded that 4x2 model in for a 4x4 w/o side air bags.

    I have a 2008 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab TRD Sport and I have Side Air Bags. If you check your Truck there should be a Tab that sticks out of you Front Seats that state Side Air Bag.
