Has anyone else had any issues with their xb halos...had mine about a year now, and one side is almost completely dim/burntout...seems when I tap on the round black piece that is wired into the halos, I get a little flickering on one corner of my halo....?

 

Are they just the white XBs?

 

yes, white, mounted behind Apollo 2.0 shrouds...work was done by Ambiguous.

 

Those were discontinued due to the malfunctioning and failing leds. You need to put some switchback halos in there. Way brighter than the XBs buddy

 

Sux ass having to fire up the oven...not in my wheelhouse...also a $1000 project, and a year wait time for my retro kit...

 

One of my ballasts is bad. Well, I switched the bulbs around and both bulbs are good so I'm assuming it's the ballast.
Looking at the TRS site, I'm not sure what to buy to replace it that will be compatible with my older setup (bought in 2014).

I'd like to be able to just buy a pair of ballasts and plug and play. Is that possible?

I'll probably get new bulbs as well to have spares since the existing ones have some hours on them.

 

Yes sir you can order a pair of ballasts and they come with igniters depending on which projectors you have

 

Looking at the XB35s on the TRS site it looks like the plugs aren't the same. I've got a braided wire permanently attached to the ballast that goes right to the bulb. The smaller wire has a plug that goes to the harness.
The ballast in the photo has wires that look like they have smaller plugs.

My lights have a high beam wire coming out of the housing that plug in to the "high beam" plug in the harness.

I don't remember what projectors I have, I'll try to go back and see. I don't have any halos.

Ok, so a little more looking I think I just need the ballast adapters.

 

I think you just need amp->d2s adapters. They're super cheap.

 

Thanks for the help y'all. I just ordered everything. I went with 5500 bulbs this time, I've read there's no blue just clean white.

 

If you order the upgraded new ballasts they will come with the D2S igniters buddy

 

Anyone know if there is still a point of contact for this? I had some issues a while back and just bought new bulbs/igniters and ballasts because I got tired of messing with it, but the halo's had died from the issues. I wanted to find someone who could open these up and replace the halo, but front mount it instead of having it behind the apollo 2.0 (i like the full ring look). I bought the XSB LED Halo's. I had talked to the guy who took over for Ambiguous, but I haven't talked with him in a long while and so this just slipped between the cracks (not his fault of course). I still want to get the halo's put on these - they function beautifully otherwise.

 

Is Ambiguous still around? Just came across this thread & want to retrofit. PM me

 

Last I spoke with him he was slowing down retrofits or not doing as often.

Maybe my peeps know more.

Check with @LSC15...think he does Retro's...I had many issues with my build from Ambiguous...

 

I’m hoping someone still follows this thread. I’ve had my Ambiguous lights a few years. I knew this day would come when one of the lights would die. It briefly comes on when I hit the switch. I hear a “dink” but it doesn’t stay on. It’s not a ground. I’ve had that before. All grounds are tight. I don’t think it’s the bulb since I get a flash as it’s energized. I’ve checked every connection. What do you guys think? My components.

 

Might be the motocontrol box. Had a similar incident like 3 years ago. Thought it was the bulbs so I bought some new ones and didnt turn on.

 

Can I just buy one? Should I replace both? That’s the black one, right? Other one is a ballast I think. My one and only set of retros.
