the rear of the lights look stock. nothing has been modified EXCEPT the rubber boot.... I make the hole on the rubber boot slightly larger to compensate for the D2S adapter. The stock alignment/adjustment can still be used to align/adjust your lights.

How do you run the solenoid wire?
Do you just run it through with the D2S connector, or make a separate opening and seal it with RTV?

Yes.

FX-R projectors require a LOT of labor cutting the reflector bowl, fitting, and aiming the projectors.
These are not just "plug-in".

The process is the same as the BHLM, so the housing needs to be removed from the truck (or purchased), cooked and opened up, projectors mounted, any desired painting done, housings resealed, and reinstalled.

That $750 includes a new set of FX-R projectors that cost $315-$575 depending on options (the $750 is likely the $315 set), a NEW set of headlight housings ($160+ for aftermarket, $500 for factory), and Andrew's labor to install the projectors.

It's not cheap, but it's what it costs to get a good, reliable, respectful, and at least marginally legal HID kit into a Tacoma.


Cheaper? $300 for a D2S retrofit and do the labor yourself on your factory lights, or buy a pair of Depos for $160 and it'll only cost you $460 plus your time... the D2S projectors are good, but not as good as the FX-R.

 

Oh I'm not saying anything against his work! I guess I'm just not a retrofit guy. I'll stick to stock headlights and a $100 HID kit

And the glare will blind the fuck out of oncoming traffic.

Either stick with halogen or go with a true HID retrofit.
The drop-in $100 kits are illegal and dangerous.

yea.... couldve been done.. but when i went put put the shrouds onto the projector that is on the bowl, it was touching too much on the bowl..... tmr i'll shave off some of the shroud to fit ..

Ant, with the H1 projectors, can you still do the return wire down mod like with the Blazers? I wasn't sure if that was a projector-specific mod or a general HID mod.

 

Got mine installed yesterday, they look/work great! Awesome work Ants!
