I have 3 glove box latches that work with 1st Gen Tacomas. 2 have locks and 1 came off my truck, with no lock.

The locking latches are off of 96-02 4Runners and are the correct ones that will work for our trucks, according to the mod link on TTORA. These need to be brought to a locksmith so they can rekey it to work with your ignition key or to have them create a separate key for it.

I went with a different key from the ignition so that service techs and valet wouldn't have access to snoop around in my glove box. Cost me about $15 at my local locksmith :)

    PRICE:
    - Brown, WITH Lock --------> SOLD (0 available)
    - Brown, WITHOUT Lock --------> FREE + Shipping (1 available) - FIRST COME FIRST SERVE; ALSO IN THE FREE STUFF THREAD

Simple install. Unscrew the 2 screws, replace, screw back in.

I would have bought that locking latch.. Darn.

Didn't realize that would be a cheap mod I could do. Thanks for posting the ttora link!

Yea man it's great with a little more security inside the cab for little things. Keep checking ebay as some pop up here and there. There actually is one for about $25 and is claimed to be off of a 97 4Runner, but the pictures show it looks slightly different (the backside of the latch) than the ones I have pictured above. Not sure though.

Best of luck with the search. I'm actually a member on T4R as well and scored em both there from guys parting out. Got em to share the love to a few members here on TW :D

Interested too. I'm sure I could try my local LKQ & check out some 3rd gen T4R's. Depending on the price of a new one.

I have 3 of these as well after reading about this on TTORA. I never found the right color grey to match my charcoal grey interior after buying them off ebay. It is impossible to go off a picture to find the correct shade so I gave up. :frusty:

Just wondering as I would like to match my gray interior, how many different grays are there for our first gens? I have a 2003 and assumed they the same, gray or tan. Can you send some pics to see if any match mine? I could take one off your hands since you have 3.

I have an 04 DC. Definitely looking for a locking latch handle. But that grey is tricky. Here is what my interior looks like if anyone has one they want to sell. PayPal ready! I thought I had more pictures of my interior, but I guess not. As you can see the grey is not dark at all.

As far as I know first gens (01-04) came with just one grey color interior or one tan color. Not multiple shades of grey or tan. I have grey interior and when they run my vin# it says charcoal grey. The latches are in storage, but I am going by there tomorrow and can take some pictures for you.

I have the same color interior. I will take a picture tomorrow with the latch up against an interior piece for comparison.
