I made this bracket back in 2017. It was originally made for the 3rd gen Tacoma and I sold hundreds of them. Now that I own 2nd gen trucks I modified this bracket to work on 2nd gen Tacoma, 3rd gen Tacoma, and any vehicle where the front license plate is mounted directly to the front bumper. It is reversible for a high mount or low mount. They are made of grade 6061 aluminum, machined and polished, and include stainless mounting screws, stainless license plate screws and rubber isolators to keep the metal from contacting the bumper. They are completely hidden behind the license plate. The planned price is $23 and that includes shipping. I am currently making these with expected shipping to start around June 30th 2023. This picture shows that it is made to fit any model of 2nd or 3rd gen Tacoma. It will actually work on any vehicle where the plate is currently mounted directly against the bumper.
This is used to eliminate the ugly results from painted bumper "chafing" damage created by the plate constantly flexing against the painted bumper. I think we have all seen this damage. You see a nice 2nd gen for sale that is all polished and shiny. Then you look at the front bumper and this is what you see:
