I did see your thread getting locked the first time you posted it but if I didn't buy a new stereo I would be all over this.

Thanks, and truthfully this is a better unit than my Kenwood but thought I would have better luck just doing the warranty swap on it and selling this as new.

Now, if I struggle to move this . . . I could have a new Sony "in my truck" and a used Kenwood for sale. :hattip:

So, would you rather have a used Kenwood Excelon KDC-X998 for $125 shipped?

This Sony is a better unit, is brand new, and a steal at $175 [shipped] but I could do either.

Don't particularly want to tear into my dash AGAIN but I am bound and determined to fix that stupid center dash buzz rattle so I need to tear it apart again for that anyway.

Well, crap, Crutchfield put this $229 Sony on sale for $199 so I guess I will drop my price to $150 shipped.

Xmas is just around the corner . . .

Sony MEX-XB100BT $50 cheaper than online and brand new. $150 "shipped"!

    Or

If you can wait a day or two for me to pull it out . . . I'll take $100 for my Kenwood Excelon KDC-X998 and put the Sony in my truck.

Bump - Hey I'm going to move this over to Ebay guys if no one wants it? Xmas coming up. I would think $50 off "shipped" would be a great deal.

Yeah, especially after Xmas, being broke seems to be going around . . .

If someone could explain to me how $225 worth of brand new equipment for only $150 shipped is not a great deal . . . I am generally a reasonable man.

Sometimes, peeps are just not happy unless they talk you down so how about $145 and that is shipped with the 2 to 1 DIN kit, wiring, and instructions from Crutchfield?

    Talk to me . . .

Not to hi-jack my own thread but though there are many threads and posts on the subject I have not yet seen a fix that actually works. Appears to be related to the defrost venting. When I put my Kenwood in, I stuffed some high density foam between the top of the center vent and the defrost vent and that seemed to work for a while but I suspect it has worked itself loose so MAYBE that jammed in there and glued so it cannot vibrate loose . . . :notsure:

EDIT: Well, there is completely removing the dash which might well disclose the real problem as the above is obviously a bandaide solution.
