FastBilly5 -- the rearview mirror relocation bracket... is it from BirdDawg Industries? If so, then there's the answer I guess.

I'm loving the mount, I have a question about possibly using this mount to support a laptop. I need to mount a 13" MacBook Pro. I don't like the RAM mount because it takes too much room from my passengers, and I don't want to drill into my dash board leaving visible permanent damage. Would this work?

I realize a MacBook probably weighs less than most, but I wouldn't try to attach it to a Tech Deck. There's really no way to do it effectively, since the 'shelf' is only a little over an inch wide, just enough for a ball mount or two. It would produce tremendous leverage on the basically plastic mounting system (plus a stiffener for the Extreme).

Install and shake down of this unit was fantastic. Spent 3 days and 140 miles on dirt running the Mojave Road from Nevada to California's cajon pass. Absolutely flawless. The unit and RAM mounts didn't budge. The only vibration was from normal trail flexing of the cab. At times we hit 60 mph through the desert, a bit of rock climbing, and lots of gravel. Still, the unit held strong. If you're on the fence about buying this - do it! Thanks Bird and Dawg

I received my tech deck and I am trying to keep an open mind here..I don't want to be that "over picky" person, but, I don't want to install something permanent that does not look as new as the rest of my Tacoma (I keep the inside pretty clean). The tech deck I received has what looks like water spots all over it and it also has some scratches. Do they come like this? Am I supposed to paint it if I want it to have a clean look? I am waiting for BirdDawg to respond to my inquiry, but I wanted another opinion other than my own. Thank you.

Mine looked like shit too, with dust marks, some lil scratches, definitely not satisfied with the aesthetics. My cabin is really dark so I said fack it. Nevertheless they could do a better job on that.

Maybe they'll exchange it. However, I'll say it looks fine to me - and I'm a fairly OCD, everything needs to match, kind of person.

I've had several friends comment that the Tech Deck looks OEM in my Tacoma. I think it matches the interior really well. I have two 1" RAM balls mounted on the two middle holes (one top and one bottom), so the engraved logo is covered by the top ball. I think the logo is a little out of place aesthetically and it detracts from the clean look, so I covered it up.
