I was all set to order, but after finding out that I have to order the ram balls separately, purchase mounting hardware for the balls, and the grand total (with shipping) would cost me close to $80, I'm going to work on some other options first. I guess it's worth it if you need to use it everyday. I would only need to mount my phone or gps every now and then.

I get that. During 2008-2009 the thought of spending $100 for something to hold my cell phone was unthinkable. Half of the company I work for and half the employees went away. The stock went to $0.80/sh or so. In spite of the hot summers and the rest of the country viewing us all as rednecks, Texas turns out to be a great place to be in business. 5+ years from that low-point things are much better.

So, I like the idea of a couple of guys turning out these little custom pieces for our trucks. I've bought a behind-the-grill light bar holder from BAMF, the Salex organizers, and now the Tech Deck. There is just so much talent on the TW site. I think you'll be hard pressed to find a better answer.

Thanks TMore66. If there was a "Better Answer" out there for dash mounting gadgets to the Tacoma...I'd have found it...would be using it...and the Tech Deck would have never been created.

My buddy and I tried everything on the market, and each device fell short of our expectations. That's the only reason we designed the Tech Deck...cause I wanted it! We didn't decide to go into producing these for others until after everybody that saw it said it was so awesome and asked how to get one. Bottom line is we didn't make these to sell. We made them for our demanding needs. A LOT of ideas, and prototypes got ripped out of my truck, and found their way to the scrap bin, before we came up with the design that surpassed our expectation. I wasn't going to use, much less sale, anything I wasn't 100% happy with myself.

The user feedback is 100% positive with the exception of some buyers wishing we supplied RAM ball hardware...but you don't even get that from RAM either.

But I understand some folks can't justify spending the money...It's not the cheapest solution in the world...but if you can, we think it's the best!

Ah hell, I'm in. I'm going to order now. I hope in my other post I didn't come across as too negative. I DO agree with supporting local or independent folks in their endeavors AND I would pay more to buy "American" than something massed produced overseas. I'm simply trying to be less of an "impulse buyer". I want to sit and stew on a purchase for awhile...."do I really need it or not?" I decided that I need this.

Naw...you didn't sound too negative. In fact, you sound very much like ME. I try to find EVERY reason NOT to buy things. Thus it normally takes me forever to pull the trigger on a purchase. I over-analyze every aspect of a purchase...especially price. However on the Tech Deck development...I didn't care how much it cost me...I wanted it THAT badly.

I see your order...and have it packaged to ship. Unfortunately I can't get it to the P.O. this afternoon (4:55PM as I type)...but it will get dropped of first thing in the morning. Enjoy!

I'm kinda thinking that the flyzeye could be mounted to the bracket. What is the thickness of the flyzeye?

Well, I don't have mine mounted yet but I'm sure it will be awesome based on the reviews and the quality of the design and construction. One thing to note for people on the fence, is that these guys are great with customer service as well...Thanks for providing the extra parts that didn't come with my Christmas present. Thanks again for a great home grown American made product :oldglory::woot:

Tech-Deck is installed. I rattle canned it with bed liner first and it looks great! Holds the Note 3 just where I need it for music and GPS.

Great product, fellas, and thanks for the super quick shipping. :)

Can you take pictures of how far it sticks out from the dash? I am in need of a place to mount my rear view camera monitor and have no idea how to do it... It has a little ball in the back but from what Im seeing all of RAM balls are 1". Guess I may end up mounting the Rear view mirror piece and a holder. Shrug.

    Here are the measurments:

The leading edge of the Tech Deck is just a bit short of 1.5" out from the dash. The centerline of the ball is just a bit over 3/4" from the dash.
We designed a downward bend in the plate right at the point it clears the dash to facillitate more clearance between the ball and the dash.

RAM does make balls that are .56" diameter, 1", 1.5", etc.

Speaking of things to put on your tech deck, what do you think of this?

It looks a little too bulky for my taste. I'm going to put my ARC controls switch panel on a ram mount connected to the techdeck to see how it holds up. The nice thing is that I only have a ribbon cable to deal with, not a ton of wires like the above.

Here's how I have my techdeck setup. I'm running the stronger version. I also opted for the threaded 1" ram balls. The holes in the techdeck are not quite large enough for the 1/4x20 bolts so I had to drill them out.

I said that the switch panel above was a little too bulky, but mine isn't much better. It's not as thick and is powered by a ribbon cable.
