    Is installation relatively the same on the pre 2012 models? The reason I ask is because the 6-7 years of the 2nd gen Tacomas don't have the plug-in located in the Bed.

    Would the only thing different be the switch location?

    I have a '06

    Yes the kit can be installed on all second gen models. The switch can be mounted in a few diferient locations, you do not need to have the bed mounted power outlet as the lights are powered from the battery.

    I can make a kit to fit the 1 gens but the light will not spread throughout the bed as well since the truck doesn't have the tie down rails.

    Received mine today and installed it. Took around 2 hours but that included going inside to do something every fifteen minutes or so......and 15 minutes looking for the stupid socket i dropped when doing the fuse terminal hookup (the skid plates decided to hide it from me!). Overall is a super simple install. I prefer soldered connections for wires so that was the only change i made (went from the crimp connections to straight soldered ones with heat shrink tape). Overall very pleased with the quality. Everything is easy to follow and the instructions provided walk you through it pretty easy.
