If you can strip a quarter inch off the end of a wire and crimp it into a pre-existing wire crimp you can do this.

I would also want it to run into the cab and the switch be on the dash where my fog light switch is. I would want a blue otrattw "bed lights" switch if they come in blue :notsure:

Also curious that if i did that, would that switch be backlit every time the truck is running or would it only be backlit when parking lights and/or driving lights are on?

 Now that I have a hood light kit, I guess it's time to think about the bed kit.

Having the switch in the cab will make the install a little bit harder. The switch will be backlit as you wire it, if you hook the "back lit" leg to acc power it will always be on with the key. If you tap in to the parking lights then it will be on with the lights.

If your not comfortable with basic wiring, Id advise against making it harder on yourself.

Whenever I am in need of my bed lights, Im usually at the tailgate to load or unload so a switch in the cab would be a PITA. my 02

Has anybody installed this with a momentary NC switch so that the lights come on when the tailgate is open and turn off when closed. Seems it would be easy to do if you figured out where exactly to mount the switch.

My thoughts are that with all my loose cargo, that i don't want it bumped. I also don't want anyone playing with the switch if i leave the bed unlocked or am away from the truck with the tailgate down. Its a security thing. I like the idea of all the controls locked up in the cab :) if i was on the west coast, i'd pay you to do it for me in a heartbeat. *sigh*

Someday i will man up and do this, mark my word! :D

Got these installed yesterday. Awesome kit. Was very complete and there were no surprises. I previously ran a 10g wire to a fuse panel in the bed so I didn't have to run power and the job took me about an hour. Pics to come soon. Highly recommended!

    Thanks,

    Tim
