Damn! I have noticed over the past few years driving against the wind does a number on MPG. I've haven't got near that but haven't been pulling trailer or had a camper.

What is the height of your RTT? And do people in San Diego usually understand Celsius?

People have called me crazy but yes the solar panel is good for +/- 3mpg. Makes a huge difference. Makes driving go from dragging a parachute to only slightly feeling the RTT is up there. Average 14-15 mpg with the panel up and 11-12 mpg with it down. No questions asked it helps.E18E16FE-0BD8-411B-AAB6-F613598BED3D.jpg

Relax, the citric thing was a joke. So, it looks like your RTT profile is close to a foot? Curious, I was thinking of getting one and wanted to see how profile affects things. How bad was it on the highway without the panels, handling wise?

Oof. Curious what people are getting with a lower profile setup (bed bars, mid-height).

That is really a tall profile. Is yours a four person?

I dont have pannels on my truck . I normally get 14 to 15 MPG on the highway . I actually pulled over to the side og the road and checked under the hood to see if there was something wrong . Its A CVT Mt Shaster , Its high beacuse it has the heavy canvas .I think its only a 3 person

Also, might not just be the RTT. I drove through 45 mph headwinds on the highway one trip and saw my hood flex constantly from I think below. My mpg dropped way low.

Anything you could use as a deflector for the wind will help. On mine the panel was there mounted flat so I just added hinges to the front edge and some struts for the rear. It can be put up or Down with no tools. The use of the solar panel is just a convenience and serves dual purpose. A sheet of plexiglass or anything really would serve the same.

How do you like those bed bars? DO you still have full function of the cover? Roll up I assume?

    Thanks,

I don't think it's been much different with or without the RTT but I don't care enough to check since I'm committed to having it on permanently (due to lack of space to store it and it being a real PITA to get it off and on again even with someone helping).

I do plan to do the solar panel spoiler like @RedBeard1 but I haven't had time to install my Prinsu AccessRack yet.
