Anyone else's fuel door light on whenever the gauges are lit up? In other words if the headlights or running lights are on my fuel door light is lit. Funny thing is if I do leave the fuel door open on purpose, the light is still off until i turn the gauge lights on.

Obviously is not a nuclear crisis but it is annoying. I looked briefly for the sensor that is supposed to sense whether or not the door is open but I didn't see much. I realize that that sensor is likely not the problem but instead it is a problem in the dash but I figured I would start with the easy stuff first. Any Ideas?

That's not a light. It's just telling you which side the fuel door is on.

Hmmm... never noticed if mine goes on with the lights. I'll check right now.

It sure does light up nice and pretty.

Wow I feel less than intelligent at this point. Funny though I never noticed it until a month or so ago and I have had the truck for a few years

The other day I noticed that the power ect button lights up brighter if it's on when the lights are on. You always find random things out about your truck.

If that's true that might very well be the dumbest "warning" light I've ever heard off.

Do the 2nd gens have a "<-- Steering Wheel" light on the cluster?

I'm right there with you. I thought the light meant "your fuel door is open" not "your fuel door is on this side". I even purchased a new fuel cap  Oh well, the one I had was pretty smashed down after 165,000 miles

Actually a lot of cars have them now. It's pretty meaningless to a long-time owner, but the first time you need gas in a new car you will probably wonder what side the door is on.

For us frequent travelers, that little arrow is hugely helpful when you're in a different rental car every week.

Well eye balls work just as well IMO.

Seems like a wasted effort for something that may only be needed once or twice for the lifetime of a vehicle.

We don't have a fuel door pointer.

I actually like it. It's not a big deal on a vehicle that you own, but it's great if you are in a rental or a pool vehicle, or are driving a friend's car.
Other than my '94 Toyota P/U, I think every car I've owned has had the door on the left.
Dad's '74 Blazer was on the right, I've had 3 cars with the filler under the bumper behind the plate.

It's not common, but I still make it a point to note where the door is when I get into a rental or pool vehicle.

    I've rented pickups.
My city has a bunch of Colorados, but the newer trucks are Tacomas.

It's not like the indicators are going to blank themselves out when the truck is too hold for fleet service :D

It would make sense to have the arrow as part of the "low fuel" warning light. But to have it constantly on would constantly pick away at my OCD guided eyes

Now the letters are in alphabetical order, the way they should be.
