Going to bump this up because I'm getting abysmal MPG. 08 PreRunner access cab manual with the 2.7
I get around 17 miles per gallon if I'm lucky. I do have a small lift and I think my tires are 2 inches taller than stock, but I feel like something else is at play

2” should be noticeable but not that bad. I’ve never once been below 21 and typically 24. Tire pressure, clean the maf sensor, check the wheel bearings and driveline. Traffic and speed, you get 0 mpg sitting with the engine running and it drops quickly above 65.

Stock except for BFGOODRICH all terrain tires.
2012 reg cab base model 4x4 automatic with bfgoodrich all terrains. I average 17 mpg but that is with letting the truck warm up in the mornings. Hopefully it will be 18-19 mpg when I don't warm it up.

What tire pressure are you guys running? With topper and work tools I’m rarely under 400 lbs in the bed and that doesn’t include me or gas weight so I keep tire pressure on the high side as well as extra air in the lift bags for leveling. I see a noticeable drop in economy with lower pressure as we’ll as excessive edge tread wear. Base model AC 2.7 manual stock tires. Fwiw my best mileage to date was driving 70-75 down to Santa Barbara so it isn’t just speed although I prefer doing my commute in off hours so I can drive at a more relaxed pace that driving is coupled with city miles so I haven’t been able to compare over several hundred miles. Does even a minimal lift really increase drag that much?

I also have a fiberglass topper and a full load of carpentry tools. Tire pressure around 38. It doesn’t seem to matter how I drive, still 17. I once got 19 mpg driving 4 1/2 hours at around 70-75 mph, nothing in the bed. I gave up trying to figure it out.

My 2.4L 1999 5 lug would average 25 mpg, aluminum topper, full load of tools. Although I’d have to turn the AC off when going up hills. ;)

I had to actually turn the heater ON in my Cortina in the summer to keep it from overheating and put cardboard in front of the radiator when driving in snow to get it up to temp so I could even use the heater/defroster.

Then simply figure out the percentage difference in tire size, and multiply that to your next fill-up MPG.

Hovers right around 20mpg, give or take a little. On 265/70/17s vs the stock 245/75/16s. The height/roll-out difference is minimal, so the speedo is real close.

Well I’m back in a 2.7 after all these years. 2019 AC Sr 4x4. I’m getting 23.4 average per tank mixed driving. I missed my 2.7 4x4 so much I got another.

    Highway geared 2wd, 2.7 L, 5 speed. 100 km/h at 2000 rpm. 100 km/h in 4th is only 2500 rpm’s.
    City….9.0 L/100 kms to 10 L/100 kms.
    Hwy….7.5 L/100 kms to 9.0 L/100 kms.
Several times I have made just over 1000 km’s on one tank. Buzzards were starting to circle.
I remember a calm summer day cruising at 110 km/h and getting phenomenal mileage in the low 7 L/100 km range according to my Scanguage. I then turned from hwy #2, from Calgary, onto Crowsnest Pass hwy #3. 15 minutes later I was slamming into a head on mutha’ wind. 40 minutes later I was down to 10 L/100 kms Scanguage average. Foot stayed pinned to the floor as I struggled to keep 100 km/h in 4th. Anyone who has driven the #3 Crowsnest knows what I am talking about. And windshield brutality!!!!
Usually 200-230 km before my gas gauge would drift off of the full mark on the hwy. Sometimes made Pincher before off the full mark. E10 dropped it under 200 km slightly. Rarely get 200 km’s now with the ethanol. Did not think it would be that drastic?
I drove this route for many years weekly.
