My stats are in Fuelly. It’s a really simple way to track your mileage.

To answer your question, there was a 1 mpg improvement by the 3rd gen over the 2nd gen. Hopefully the 4th gen will do better. A lot better.

I just got new trd pro , 140km trip back home, i've got 9.3l/100 which is approximately 25mpg, and it is very cold here, was very surprised with this result, especially after all the bad reviews I saw here on the forum

Impossible... one guy looked at his range calc.. and disproved the entire theory...

Now I think the people reporting very poor fuel economy are topping off too often for the calculation by the truck. This theory could be validated by comparing the "AVG Tank MPG" to that which is found by dividing miles driven into gallons pumped. I no longer think the ODO reset is connected with any calculation / estimate of economy made by the electronics in the vehicle...

Useless information. Figure your fuel mileage by hand. My older Tacoma doesn't provide DTE info nor calculate fuel mileage. But I have other vehicles that do. Those can be amazingly accurate, or wildly optimistic. My F150 has never been off by more than 1/2 mpg when I figure it by hand. Most of the time it is dead on or only off by .2 or .3 mpg.

Other vehicles have been inaccurate by as much as 4-5 mpg.

by year I don't see a change, but summer vs winter is different if the temps really change. when really cold I get worse mileage, when warm/hot I get better mileage......I think...not sure but either way one season it's good, another it's worse. could be temp related, could be fuel formulation changes due to temps...beats me. I notice this on every vehicle I have, car or truck.

I'm happy if I get 350+ on a tankful and just reset the mileage trip gauge at fill-ups.

Learned that from 16+ years of driving a 2003 Honda Pilot w/3.5L.

Flat highway, non ethanol fuel and light right foot. Average speed probably 105 kph.

I’ve got over 800 km a few times and usually put around 75 litres back into the tank. That’s a buffer of 5 litres. I have always run the tank down to the light coming on and then some. I put over 550,000 km on my 2005 with zero problems and have 170,000 km on my 2018. Current average rank in January with Michelin snow tires is getting me 620 km per tank.

There is a thread in the Canadian forum where I’ve logged a few tanks worth of information.

My post here was basically a reference to upper end possibility differences between the two generations that I have owned.

Impressive, your truck must be pretty stock.

I never go below a quarter, always put in about 60 litres.:)
