This was around my best when the truck was bone stock and I was working at hours with 0 traffic here in SoCal(Downey to Mira Loma & back). I could go like ~68mph while still maintaining it.

17 dcsb off road, original tires with about 20% tread left. Probably a pound light on air. 800 mile round trip weekend. Edit: TSB for trans / hunting has been applied. Dissent cab rack and softtopper on the bed. One adult passenger and two kids. Minimal baggage. Truck is stock.

Quarter tank thru east TN hills at 70-75 gets 15-17.

Slowing down to 65-70 in Kentucky gets 17-19.

Slowing to 55-60 thru Indiana gets 22-23.

Coming back, I did the reverse. 75 thru Indiana (@16-17) and slowing down as it got hilly. Speed over 60 seemed to have the most impact compared to hills, as you reclaim some of that loss. Stop and go depends on the frequency of stops and how fast you want to get to the next one.

My new 2.7 Auto gets around 20-22 city driving to work, about 13 miles each way. If I cruise the Hwy at about 67-69 MPH I can get it up to 26MPG.

I haven’t tried it but isn’t that a simple way to stop the transmission from hunting gears and constantly dropping down into 5th or even 4th on the highway? Keeping the revs down and increasing MPG?

No. S(Whatever) just limits the highest gear it can shift into. It does limit hunting in that it can't shift up beyond that gear, but S6 won't hold it in 6th gear.

Ahhh ok, I didn’t realize that. So ‘S6’ is the exact same as ‘D’? That seems like a pretty stupid design. I could understand if I had it in S6 and tried to take off from a stopped position and the transmission changed gears to protect itself but, come on..........

I know it makes no sense at all, but I tested s6 on highway and got an amazing improvement! I have tried it 2 times. no cruise control involved 150 km/ about 90 miles and got 10.4 liters per 100...sorry too lazy to give you numbers in miles. But I had my best with s6 so far. It could only be the fact that I was smooth on departures and did not allow it to downshift...I know it would have downshifted with cruise on. Honestly, I save on highways but can not help listening to the engine and drive my taco like a sport car in town. I loooove that truck!

Top photo is driving to work averaging 65 mph for about 85% of the drive with cruise control on plus hilly roads in 630ft elevation.

Bottom photo is driving home with cruise control set at 55 with driving 85% of the drive maintaining the 55mph.

    I also have a 2019 TRD Off Road 6MT

When I switched to the Falken AT3Ws from the stock tires I noticed my truck doesnt shift into 6th as much. Flat areas where I used to feel the truck shift up into 6th it holds 5th now. I think thats why I lost so much MPG (22.5-23 down to mostly 20 even)

They put a ramp to I-95 super close to my house, about 45 seconds from my drive way to the interstate.

If I'm gonna be taking I-95, I always pull the truck out of the garage and let it run while having a smoke before I take off.

I thought it would be good to let it warm up a little before driving at higher speeds. Then I've read on here letting them warm up isn't a good thing.

Driving 100+ miles to my folks place I always seem to get better mileage coming back. I don't let it warm up when leaving their place, because I have to drive about 15 miles city type driving before getting on the expressway.

Can letting them warm up cause worst gas mileage? How?
