This tune is a life saver. I didn’t see it mentioned before, but it’s worth every penny. I went from getting about 17 mpg per tank to a solid 20 mpg per tank. Plus he has pretty much fixed the crappy stock shifting problems with the truck going into 4th at times. (I say pretty much because he’s still working on the adaptive cruise if you have a TSS truck)

^^^This. I found using cruise control killed my fuel economy. When my truck was stock, highway driving with cruise was usually around 17-20 mpg. Pedaling it while maintaining a consistent highway speed I would be 20-24. For having a “smart” transmission and all the tranny tsb’s my truck’s shifting was maddening with cruise control.

After modding the truck with heavy tires, lift, and some armor; I was averaging 14-18 mpg’s with cruise and 17-20 pedaling.

After flashing the 87 base OVTune, the cruise control mpg matches or beats my pedaling mpg. I’m averaging 18-21 mpg highway. The truck drives like it has some sense now too while in cruise control and I don’t question my smart transmission being mentally retarded. My truck was never stock with the tune so I don’t have those mpg’s to share.

Before and after all my mods, anything over 65 mph would always negatively affect my mpg’s.

nothing yet, just tacked on the all weathertech mats and using the free factory cover on the back of it
i took a 1600 mile drive from texas, to Arkansas, Tennessee, Virginia, and ended in Maryland. I had a 600lb payload plus myself and the dog. so we're about another 250lbs. drove about 5 mph over the speed limits between 65-75. i usually ended up around 24.5-25mpg. much better than my normal mixed city/hwy avg of 21.5

I’m happy if I see 18 mpg. My truck is my secondary vehicle so it mainly sees duty running errands or me wanting to go out and have fun. Not much interstate driving. I don’t drive like a grandpa, but I also don’t rag it out. Just put on some 265/70/17 Wildpeaks, we will see what happens now.

Going to the beach (I live in "lower" AL) I consistently got 24-26 mpg (Texaco gas). Last week I changed my stock tires (Hancok's) for a new set of BS Duler's. First highway trip with the new tires (150 miles) the best mpg peaked at 23 but averaged overall about 21.7 but ride was better. Very disappointed with new mpg but that seems to be in line with many forum members. Mine is a 16' SR5 DCSB with 40K on the clock. Been a great ride. Great dealer who did ALL the TSB's with no questions or Toyota BS (window seal, transmission fluid level check and reflashes, radio reflashes, spacers in rear springs, license plate lights where moister had clouded, tighten bolts on differential, some kind of crank sensor, front bushing that was squeaking, and a few others). These were items I learned about on TW. Nothing done since 25K.

With “summer” gas I get 18-20. With “winter” gas I get 16-18. Always 87 octane.

My 2019 SR5 2wd DCSB (v6): I have a 3/2 lift with 265/65-17 Nitto A/T tires, 1.25" spacers & the front spoiler/air dam that comes with the SR5's & I average about 20mpg combined. per tank. That's city & highway driving, but more highway. I do use the dynamic cruise control a lot & ALWAYS have the ECT on while highway driving (much better shift points & more power). Most city driving, it's about 17-18mpg. I always use Shell 87 octane.

I did take about a 300 mile round trip, almost all highway, with the ECT & cruise on at 70-75mph from Columbia, SC to Charleston, SC & back, & averaged 21.2mpg, I was happy with that for a longer trip & a few hills here & there.

I've only had it for about 2 months now & 4k miles on the clock.

Same as mine. I didnt think they had any transmission updates for the 2019s as far as a tsb. I havent experience the rough shifting or other previous problems but have the issue of the truck wanting to stay in to high of a gear and bog at 1100 rpms.

Yes, you can expect a 1-2 MPH improvement by 2000 total miles... also, I believe the biggest difference in MPG obtained is based on personal driving style. Rushing from one red light to the next will net in less than average city MPG, and driving over 70 MPH will reduce highway MPG (obviously).

I average a solid 20 MPG with mixed city/hwy... and offten get a dash trip report of 24+ MPG when driving conservatively on 45 MPH roads with some stop & go. On my one long distance hwy trip, I got 22 MPG one direction, and 18 MPG the other (high head winds on return)... averaged speed was 78 MPH on cruise control.

OVTune needs to be compatible with more than just a windows laptop. This isn’t 1999 any more.

The shifting in general isn’t the greatest. And I personally didn’t like the truck jumping to 4th all the time.

I run it out of bootcamp. As much as I'd love everyone to support OS outside of windows, that's never going to happen. Working in IT, I have multiple VMs that I run so I can run whatever stupid app I've got to use at that time. Things are moving cross platform, via HTML5 and the web. They days of installable applications outside of app stores are likely numbered.

Over-pressurizing the tires for the load they are under (what the door sticker is for!) will lead to quicker wear of the center tread of the tire. You don't risk blow-out until you exceed the sidewall MAX pressure, but I'd happily take a slight mpg penalty to avoid having to buy tires more frequently.

-- the reason you likely see better MPG with an over-inflated tire is that less of the tire is contacting the ground, as it will bulge in the center. This also reduces handling capability.

They don't. Sport is rated for one mpg better, on the manual trans anyway
