2019 2wd TRD Sport, DCSB. 4K on the clock, stock other than the Roll-n-lock bed cover and steps. Exactly 21 lifetime MPG total on the nose by mathematical miles/gallons in method (not the dash gauge). 70% city/30 hwy. All flat Florida driving.

Gotten as high as 26.5 over a 90 mile drive with cruise on at 70 mph on uncongested hwy. Start going much faster and you lose that exponentially as brick...err..truck aerodynamics take over.

I've regeared to 5.29s running a bit heavy bumpers, sliders, skids, winch, now got the at habitat in the back with more weight that will be added and i'm lucky to get 14mpg :/ should have kept my jeep, I was getting 15-17 with 37" tires! Toyota really suck balls with the mpg and weak 3.5L might as well go to a Tundra V8 will get better performance and mpg actually

18 City and 22 Hwy, 20 mixed... just like the factory window sticker advertised, with a 4 out of 10 fuel economy rating. “You spend $2250 more in fuel costs over 5 years compared to the average new vehicle”... you don’t buy a Tacoma for good fuel mileage, but then again... it’s a truck, so not too bad.

Wow! That’s a whole 2 MPG better than my last Rubicon!

OP: of all the mods we can conceivably do to a truck, I found the single most likely to kill your fuel economy is fitting tires with a wider footprint.

99% of my driving is in town and relatively short trips.... 3-5 miles. This with stop lights, trains, waiting in drive through lines etc, all which affect mpg . . Winter time 17-18. Summer 19-20 with an occasional 21-22 recorded if I get lucky and make a lot of lights. Winter with short trips and winter gas is a MPG killer. On highway driving on flat roads I see 24-25 if I keep it under 65.

Mostly stock double cab Off Road except TRD exhaust and CAI, which contribute very little if any efficiency benefits. Start putting on larger heavier wheels and tires, lifts, roof racks etc. MPG's suffer.

Hey, it's a truck. Just drive it, fill it up then repeat. If you have a long commute to work and you're worried about mpg, find something else for that commute.

I've been averaging 21mpg so far on my commutes according to the trip computer... haven't gone through the whole tank yet though since I just picked it up on Sunday. It's mostly highway miles. 8 miles each way, one mile being city.

I average 21-26 mpg city/highway and hyper-mile whenever possible. I cannot believe the fantastic mileage I get with my Tacoma: Hope this photo comes out from a drive this morning:
