I have a '94 4x4 manual Toyota pickup V6 and when I was trying to take off the fuel filter I was able to get the bolt off closest to the front. However the rear bolt wasn't budging. Once I got the front bolt loose the gas keep dripping at a constant speed for 2+ hours before I just screwed it back in. I thought the fuel was "pushed" through electronically. Is this true or is it a gravity thing? Because the fuel should have stopped dripping eventually. About 12oz came out before I put the screw back in.
In the end all I did was bath in gas for 2 hours and not get that other bolt loose!

I had a bear of a time with that too on my 04. I loosened both before removal, (it took a while too) with hard lines on both sides it was a bitch. I replaced the filter only to discover two days later, a small leak with the new filter. Garage smelled like gas for two days, not normal and dangerous as I have a gas water heater/pilot light in the garage. I got a new filter and did it again, this one sealed. I don't know why they didn't do some flex line on one side to make it easier.

I didn't follow the books advise to drain the fuel line by discoing the fuel pump fuse and run the engine till it dies.... Next time I will, because I bathed in gas too.
