Fuel filter location?

    2015 tacoma 4.0 6 cyl
    this morning started truck, idled down from 1600 to 1100 after a few minutes YAY!!! after going to store and back down to 800 whew
    not sure which repair fixed it. thinking throttle body cleaning. just took couple days to reset. This everything i did

    disconnected battery and let sit 20 minutes several times. This fixed it a few times but would idle up next day
    cleaned throttle body
    cleaned mass flow air sensor
    with key on slowly pushed pedal to floor held for 3 seconds 3 times did this several times

    Go Team TW.....great to hear that your problem has been corrected. Big shoutout to all that helped in this diagnosis and problem solving on this one. Great bunch of folks here at TW. Very resourceful place for help for sure! 19.0 smiles to the gallon.....LOL

    Ok, no frame rail filter, so what is the filter in the engine compartment on the driver's side?
    Ok, so no fuel rail filter, in tank only? So, tell me about this engine compartment filter. See pic. 20220804_091019.jpg

    Black TRD Fj Cruiser wheels, TRD catback exhaust.
    Since you don’t know the history. Change those plugs. Their 30K interval copper Denso or NGK. If you have Denso on one side and NGK on the other. Chances are those are original spark plugs.

    That's not a filter, it's a surge tank/resonator for the EVAP purge valve.

    Ok thanks, I'm used to seeing older cars with surge tanks components much larger than this. So I'm assuming it never needs changing?

    No, I'm pretty certain it's just a hollow canister.

    Only needs replacement if it rusts through or develops a vacuum leak.
