I disagree. I'd definitely say someone is offended or sensitive if they'd actively switch my username to ignore because of this thread topic.

    I'm not.

I didn't & I'm not going to read the 80+ post in this thread. I did however read OPs first post and would only add a few things. First, I'm glad you're overall seemingly pleased with your Tacoma. Second, (and I mean this sincerely) if you find small, irrelevant things bother you, you might want to find a hobby. There are too many other things in life that are far more important to be expending too much energy worrying about such things...

Sure it's possible, the 2016s have mileage info between the tach and speedometer. Though someone here said that's not very accurate either.

MGCPNGN7, to understand your fuel gauge, you simply must form a bond, a relationship of sorts, with your beloved Tacoma. Once you do form a bond, you will realize that your Tacoma is not entirely unlike a woman. Sometimes she is like some of the young and silly girls you became intimate with in High School. Not entirely unlike the ones you thought you were going to have to marry. Other times she is like the uncertain number of young ladies you met, and shared the night together, in your tumultuous twenties. Then, in your latter twenties or early thirties, you decided to stop all the foolishness and settle down with a real good gal, just like the gal Dad had, and you did. Until the phone began to ring and when you answered it, the other end of the line hung up without saying a word. After you rid yourself of that nasty mistake, you were in your mid to late thirties. You then embarked on a mission to "get to know" as many, by this time lets face it, milfs and cougars, as you could. "Mercy" was a word you became unfamiliar with, either giving mercy, or getting mercy. You simply must learn to accept your gas gauge for what it is; something you desperately want to believe what she tells you about her consumption, but you know everything it tells you is a lie. How does this analogy end? It ends when you run out of gas, and not before.

Interesting thread. I would agree that it is annoying. All of those people saying that the shape of the tank is the culprit are dead wrong. Toyota and all other auto manufacturers could absolutely make a 100% accurate fuel gage if they wanted to. The fuel gage works exactly like they want it to. Having said that, my 2014 Honda Accord Sport has a pretty consistent fuel gage through the whole range. When the miles driven equals the miles till empty, the analog fuel gage is right at half a tank. Same goes for 3/4, 1/4, etc.

Ultra Gauge measures fuel flow. You tell it how much is in the tank when it's full and it shows fuel remaining. Mine is accurate to < 5% after calibration.

When my truck told me i had 0 miles to empty, "please refuel". I had 2 gallons left in the tank FYI.

If total accuracy is that important, you could always install a precision differential pressure detector and properly calibrate your instrumentaion (fuel meter). It would also cost thousands of dollars for little gain and where complete accuracy is really not that important, which is probably why auto manufacturers don't do this for a gas tank.
