I recently had my fuel gauge stop working between the 1/8 of a tank and empty. The needle stops around the 1/8 of a tank level and just stays there until I run out of gas. when I turn the ignition off the gauge falls all the way like it should, it just never registers less than an 1/8 of a tank to where the orange light comes on. I ran out of gas, then pumped 23 gallons into the truck and went 395 miles before it ran out again. 2nd time was intentional, but truck took 23 gallons again. any ideas thanks

From what I understood is that it works fine between 1/8 of a tank and full, it just never drops below 1/8th tank.

If that is correct then the float is sticking inside of the tank, it isn't a connection issue.

U have nothing to contribute to this thread, but I do have a question.

What are you filling up with? Magic gas? 395 miles, hot damn thats some good mileage per tank!

This. Sometimes it can be cleaned up and it will work again. Mine worked right for about a year after I did that. Now it is failing again- it'll say it's empty when it's still got a half tank.

I was wondering how he got 23 gallons into a 21 gallon tank.

Must be the filler neck etc...

These are a few of the questions I had myself, I had only put around 21 gallons before, but yes with the 23 gallon fill up I had gas all the way up to the cap, and yes the 395 mile blew my mind to, before I had managed 330 or so. My problem is not that my truck shows empty when full, it is it shows half a tank when empty, I reset my odo when I fill up and when the truck hits 275 miles I fill it up again.

Read my post above. Your float is sticking or defective. The float is on the fuel pump assembly inside the gas tank.
