I would think that the link to this posting would be enough… they have an opportunity to either look like a hero here and stand behind their work and possibly get some free good advertising or tell you to pound sand and they will be guaranteed to get a bad name which goes a lot farther.

I hope that do the right thing. They're a hometown builder with a good rep from what i've been invold with or know of others that have had good luck with them.

Damn. Usually BBB reviews are filled with angry nonsense, but that level of constant short-term failure from detailed reviews seems like a systemic issue from whoever they've got putting these together

Edit: it looks like there may be a mix up. There's also a Phoenix Engine "Specialist"

Yeah I am not sure that is the same place but will ask my friend if the address is the same. Hope not, those reviews are not good.

Had an update from my friend just now. He spoke to the builder and asked what they can do for him and that he's hesitant spending more money. Not sure if this post was mentioned.

Builder said he will put together an engine for him at cost if he sends the longblock and shortblock back to him. At this time I think that is the way he is going to go.

What's "at cost"? Imo they should eat the entire cost of making this right, or send him back a salvageable core for free w/full refund

I agree with you. My friend seems to think that is the best deal he will get. Builder says they will show receipts from all costs.

From those pictures, I would not trust them to assemble a 2nd motor.

Check the torque on all the bolts before you install it.

I mentioned that to him as well. I have never done it and not sure if it would apply in this case. Would like to think so.

I have done this twice… the procedure for credit disputes varies from bank to bank. Some have lots of pain in the rear provisions that have to be made and none of them in your favor, there are legal timelines and things that you have to do first before they will do anything. There is always small claims court too and the problem with that is that after you win you have to collect. My last small claims case took 7 years to collect and they were pissed, the interest on the judgement doubled the initial disputed amount.

I checked in with him yesterday. Engine(s) were picked up to be shipped on 1/23/24. He hasn't heard anything from the builder since. The first engine was built and sent to him quick, but maybe this one is at the back of the line.

Is this the place? I have no input on the matter, I’m more interested in the conclusion for future reference.
