I have my own garage and lift. Do all my own service. Only thing dealer does is oil changes. They are free for life of vehicle. So that’s why I go. Saves me over $100 a year. 6 qts synthetic and filter are just expensive enough to make ot worth it.

I decided dump in a bottle of tectron. Just for good measure. Truck runs like day I drove it out of showroom and it’s got 142,000 miles since new in 2016. So I figure leave it be. Nowhere in any service book is that service mentioned. And in 35 years of high mileage vehicles I’ve never done injector cleaning. My vehicles work their butts off. I life to drive and travel. Only major service was the timing cover sealant at 132,000 and Toyota nicely paid for that.

    so it’s all good.

So how exactly does a fuel cleaner help your direct injectors,
when that video is referring to port injectors and their multiple little spray holes

and how exactly does a cleaner remove carbon buildup on your unwashed valves,
when you inject it into the cylinder...

Chevron gas comes with Techron already in it

It sounds like occasionally you give the truck a workout through load, RPM, and long trips, which is good for it, as opposed to people who don't.
It is good you are the original owner who has the 0 miles perspective to compare it to.
Most 2nd gen owners for example did not buy new, so they have no idea how the truck felt at 0 miles. I know I don't, having bought it with 130k on the clock.

All that shit is just snake oil

If you have concerns about "dirty" injectors (I'm talking port injected here), pull them out and get them cleaned

If you have concerns about carbon buildup on intake valves (fairly common on DI motors) the only repair worth a shit is to pull the intake manifold and media blast (acorn shells) the valves at each port

Fortunately I’ve always bought them knew. Run them to 300k and amazingly still sell for a decent price. On my gen 2 and gen 3 I’ve always found rpm’s are my friend when towing my camper. Usually hold it in 4th. That keeps beginning in the 2k to 3 k range. On the gen 3 on hills it is not unusual for the engine to rev to 4k plus on a bill when it drops to 3rd. But that gen. 3 engine smooth as silk in higher rpm’s.

I never baby them. I don’t abuse them either. But I like to work them.

Sounds good, don't forget to grab beer. After 5pm we can shut the doors and BBQ out back

After 28 hrs on the highway your intake valves will be spotless anyways

At my dealer a fuel system service included the following and cost $200, it took about 1.5 hours depending on throttle body location and fuel rail connection location/ease of disconnect.

    Throttle body cleaning.
Fuel injector flush, turn off fuel pump, disconnect fuel rail hose, connect tank of cleaner that uses shop air to pressurize and run engine with cleaner through rails and injectors.
Vacuum cleaner flush, disconnect an evap hose on intake manifold and attach hose for cleaner that is sucked through the intake and intake valves, in theory gets rid of carbon buildup on valves.
Fuel tank additive gets added cause why not.
Reset KAM due to cleaned throttle body.

I dont think it needs to be done more often then around every 50K at the max, at least good to do when replacing spark plugs around 100K.
