So recently, (not all the time) when I go to accelerate, I heard sputtering. Kinda like in the old days when you had cheep gas. Can I use a gas additive or something along those lines?

Also switch to a Top Tier gas...preferably ethanol free.

I did that today, not ethanol free, to see if it helps.

I’ve seen 18-19 iirc. How about the high pressure fuel pump? I don’t think that was a recall though.

Maybe 2018 is mixed in there too. I think there was a TSB for the HPFP if it chirps like crickets.

That sounds right. I wasn’t sure if there were issues with the spill valve or just the chirping. Spitballin’...

For the few extra cents I decided long ago to use nothing but top tier gas in everything...including outboards, lawnmower, generators and ofcourse vehicles...in Alberta where i live Shell premium is ethanol free...in most places.

Sounds like what my buddies 2019 tacoma v6 auto does....it you drive a stretch far enough to enter 6th gear then round a very slow corner, huis transmission sometimes will stay in 6th gear really lugging down the engine making the truck stutter, and feel as if you ran out of gas.

    Here's what I would do.........

Use an OBDII code reader to see if there are any error codes or pending codes. If your Check Engine Light was not on, the dealership usually does not perform a diagnostic check. Even if there are no stored codes, use the erase all codes option. This should reset the engine computer. The truck's computer will begin "relearning" your driving habits. If no OBDII reader is available, disconnect the battery cable for about 15 minutes.

Pour a bottle of Red Line SI-1 fuel cleaner in the gas tank. This is a very good product.

Clean the Mass Airflow sensor (MAF). The MAF is near the output area of your air filter box. There are wires going to the MAF. The MAF assembly is held in by two screws. Handle with care! Use a MAF spray cleaner. They do get dirty and can cause problems like you described.
