I have a fuel leak in the engine bay of the Tacoma I bought a couple months ago. Drivers side, toward the firewall, the fuel lines come up into this black square box and then continue on to the engine. One is probably the delivery line and the other probably the return line. Anyone know why this could be leaking? And it's leaking pretty badly, it's almost running out. I need to order the part but don't know what to call it.

You need to disassemble the box and disconnect the hoses then inspect the unions. It may be corroding on the metal side.

Considering the nature of the leak, maybe it should visit a licensed shop?

Got a picture? I'm guessing those are the clamps that connect the engine fuel lines to the chassis fuel lines. Also, it's a returnless system so those are both supply lines.

    Edit:

That's it... Any idea what I need to order to fix this. In response to the first reply, I work for a dealership which has an attached shop, but I like working n my own stuff, I just didn't know what to call the parts that I need to order.

I'm not trying to be rude, but why not ask the shop instead of a random stranger on the internet?

The box doesn't hold fuel, it protects the line unions.

We don't know what's leaking so we can't help, it's a safety hazard and needs to be addressed properly.

No offense taken or intended Bishop. I appreciate any and all responses. My family runs on a tight budget so I like doing things myself. I just didn't know if I needed to order couplings or entire fuel line sections. On the PC that I use, it's difficult to upload pics so I understand you guys are guessing when you try to help me.

Won't know the issue for sure until you have a look. I didn't have any luck finding the o-ring identified separately, my guess would be it's part of the engine side fuel line assembly. A dealer with the electronic parts catalog would know for sure.

Just took a moment at lunch to go look at it. Pulled the protective box off and pushed the hoses together with the engine running and the leak stopped. Watched it for a moment to confirm. No leaks. I'm definitely going to keep a close eye on it for a while. Thanks to both of you for the information, especially you Matt. Those diagrams helped tremendously.
