I scraped the paint off my right rear wheel moulding and then fixed it. That's my modding so far
I can’t seem to find out what this part is. I know it has fuel pressure on it as when I turn on the key the fuel sprays out of the part. The hose on it, in the picture says, do not kink. The top of the plastic blew off taking part of the rubber with it.

Just trying to figure out what part to buy as the diagrams don’t seem to reflect this part

Did you have the fuel pump recall done?

Just wondering if this could be something your dealer screwed up.

I quickly looked on Sparks Toyota parts and see a bunch of hose and other parts under Fuel System/Fuel system components that are not in the diagram and I suspect what you need is one of those parts. You might have to go to a local dealership for more help.
Unless you or someone was in there wrenching, it appears maybe you have rodent chewing damage, so I would look very carefully at the wiring and other hoses assemblies.

Maybe, have your dealer take a look at it to see if it can be covered under the recall. If yours is spraying you definitely have the symptom of fuel smell. Your 2020 is covered for 10 years regardless of mileage. Good luck.

I do have squirrels but I discount that theory as none of the wiring or anything but the top of the plastic assembly is affected. Unless the squirrels were huffing gas.

    still a valid thought thanks

Yeah the dealer is 38 miles away. I may have to resort to fuel resistant JB Weld to limp it over but I hate to do that. I don’t think this is the recall though. I would love to just buy the part and install it I just can’t figure out what it is

Dealers will pay for a tow in cases like this. Toyota does not want to be on the hook for a fire.

Definitely not a recall as I called Toyota and the recall is for the fuel pump.

The consolation to all this is they also can’t find it on their part diagrams. I sent them a picture and turns out they have a truck like mine in the shop so they looked at it….and are stumped

Yes I ordered it from the stealership for $175 but it won’t be in until next week.

Amazing you figured that out. Took the parts guy 20 minutes AND they had a truck to look at in their shop. Plus they said it was their best guess they weren’t 100% sure.

    Appreciate your time

    Update

Toyota says there isn’t a single fuel line in stock for a 2020 Tacoma in the entire USA. They ordered me one and it has a 95% chance of coming in on the 10th so I am hoofing it.

The issue is, in my opinion, if you make a part for a vehicle that can’t be ordered anywhere else maybe you should stock a few in an entire country.

I will be putting JB Weld on the 90 degree plastic part for additional strength when it comes in. The design may be one of the worst I have ever seen. A plastic piece running 50psi can’t last with a 90 degree bend. Every time pressure is applied it will flex slightly until it breaks.

Just a note that JB Weld is good for about 2,000psi to about 4,000psi. Glass reinforced nylon is good for about 20,000psi.

You just likely got a one in a million bad one. I would not fret about a new one but get the concern.

Nah it’s a design error. For them not to have a single one in the US means they exhausted the original stock they had the dealers carry. From an engineering standpoint the 90 degree angle is the worst possible use of plastic under pressure and resisting petroleum. As for the JB Weld the amount of pressure out of that fuel pump is no more than 60psi and I am only reinforcing the 90 degree turn.

I would leave it alone. Your case is a second that I remember. Other one had a roden damage. Likely yours was also caused by external damage.

Anyone know of a tutorial for say changing injectors on the 3rd gen 6 cyl for a Tacoma?

I was hoping I could get to the connector but unless I am seeing this wrong it’s connecting under the intake manifold in a locations strategically located out of sight. It appears I may have to remove the intake manifold to squeeze the connector and release the fuel line
It’s my duty to inform you….you are correct. Once I got it off so I could examine it in sunlight yeah….it was a squirrel chew toy. I examined everything else under the hood and found a set of wires on the intake that has also been slightly chewed.

    Thanks again for the help

ugh, I figured it was rodents.
You might have someone look over the wiring,,, you might need enough work to claim on insurance.
