Hey, I don't post here much since I'm a 4runner guy and I spend most of my time on T4R.org. However, more of you guys have s/c'd 5vz's than guys on t4r so I figured I would seek help from someone here.

I'm having a pinging issue at high hear/low rpm (HG/LR) while giving any more than maybe 1/4-1/3 gas. Any other time the engine runs absolutely great and has tons of power. I'm not getting any check engine lights and as far as I know the ECU isn't throwing any codes. I'm not able to view any info from the FTC because I don't have an adapter yet to use the FTC cable on my computer. I'll get one shortly though.

    My setup:
    98 4runner 5vzfe
    2nd gen black supercharger
    2.1 pulley
    6 injector kit
Vehicle is daily driven at ABOVE 6000 ft. in Colorado.

I bought the 4runner a few weeks ago with a rod knock and replaced the engine with another engine that had 136k on it. The engine overall is healthy to my knowledge and compression test verifies that it's a healthy engine.

I know I need to be able to connect my FTC cable to my computer before another fuel/timing map can be used but my main goal here is to see what others are using for fuel/timing maps on their 4runners/tacomas and see if there is another map that I can use that may get rid of my pinging issue.

    02 sr5 4x4 auto v6 turbo (sold)
Turbo with supporting mods and tranny to hold power.
You need 2 step colder plugs and 170 deg thermostat and fuel pump or kenne bell bap as well. You also need to be able to tune via cable and computer and be able to see where ping is ocurring. What rpm and boost/vac level to know what cells need to be changed. Let us know all mods currently on your 4r. I tuned my turbo 5vz and when it was trd sc. Not difficult just need to see what area of map you need to adjust and be able to load it in truck.
