2010 tacoma 2.7 was getting anywhere from 22 to 24 miles to gallon now only getting 18 or 19, May even have lost a little power, not sure only had the truck about 5 months, I checked the oil and looks like it may be about a half quart low after 2500 miles, the truck has 122.000 miles

I would start with the simple stuff: spark plugs(have they ever been changed?) - air filter(dirty?) - MAF sensor(dirty?) - tires(properly inflated?).

Could be all sorts of things to include winter fuel and winter itself.

Oil loss? - it's either leaking it or consuming it.

    Welcome to TacomaWorld!

I get terrible gas mileage in the winter months. It always goes back up when gas stations switch back over to the summer fuel blend. It seems these trucks are very sensitive to winter fuel.

Also in my case, I let my truck idle to warm up and defrost the windshield pretty often. Obviously not good for fuel economy.

I was thinking that might be the case but didn’t think it would cut it that much. New plugs at 80.000 new air filter at 120.000

Winter gas is at least 1-2 mpg of it. And sometimes you just get a tank of "bad" gas. Occasionally I just get poor fuel mileage from a tank of gas for no known reason.

Winter gas and all those warm up cycles kill gas mileage. Work out your mileage over several tanks to get an accurate reading. When l lived in cold climates. My mileage would always drove 2 or 3 mpg on average from summer to winter. Some tanks l even saw a bit more of a drop in mileage.

That's about my real-world mpg, too. Mine is a 6spd manual, too, which I think does little worse than the auto. I was practically ecstatic last week when I saw 18mpg over 250 miles on a mostly highway trip.

    How do you calculate MPG?

Anything in your driving habits changed lately? Destinations, routes, etc.?

Anything on the truck of significance changed? Tires, suspension, etc?

Get fuel at same place regularly?

The only times I get MPG as high as yours is cruising on the road. You are currently getting my normal in town AC on MPG. And mine is a 5 lug with still under 25k.

    2017 pro here. I get 18 or 19 at 70mph but I've averaged 31mpg over 100+ mile trip if I keep it around 50 or 55mph.

My fuel mileage has tanked also in the recent weeks. Went from 17-18 mpg to 12-14 practically over night.

I wasn't complaining at all. I gladly accept the fact of lower gas mileage overall for the benefits of driving a truck. l was just adding my 2 cents as to why it goes down in the winter. I also have a V6 4x4.
No matter what my mileage was. I'd never ho back to a car. There's a lot to ne said about going places most cars can't, and throwing stuff in the bed that you could never fit into s car.

Not one. I have a scan gauge ordered so I can monitor my driving. I drive pretty conservatively now but maybe I'm doing something wrong. The only thing I know I'm at fault on for sure is idling in the morning to warm the motor up. No more than 2-3 minutes though

I don't know if that's enough to do it but it's better to wait till the revs drop and then drive her gently till she warms up.

I will start trying that. I've been a diesel guy from the start so I'm still in the mindset of letting it get warm before going anywhere.

My 2004 V6 3.4 with Cai, Exhaust and a few other small mods has been droppped in MPG in the past few weeks...I have a feeling it’s not Tacoma’s losing MPG’s to Winter Fuel But it’s the Man shopping out batches of Faster burning Fuel to America...This is ridiculously out of control compared to every other Winter

Winter fuel blends can cause a drop like that.

Don’t idle. Start her up and drive. Engines do not need to “warm up”. They warm up faster by being driven.
